Who threw D.G under the bus....

Was it all JR....was it Davis/Olsen...was it R.R...or a combination of the above. D.G's tenure saw the team win almost twice as many games as they lost, 2 NFC championships and 1 SB appearance. This doesn't happen on a whim. Something went down and went down hard. Will we ever know the truth?

JR was willing to take the fall to protect the likes of TD and Olsen and prevent the impending bad press is my best guess.  It's a questionable move by a guy who's been criticized for running a franchise where there was never enough emphasis on winning.

Probably Gettleman himself. You can do your job without being an asshole about it. He's shown quite a bit of history of getting into dick swinging contests. Don't wanna do that with the guy who signs your paychecks. You're gonna lose that one.

He's already burned bridges with Steve Smith and DeAngelo Williams - fan favorites that are our career leaders in receiving and rushing, along with a rising star in Josh Norman. Richardson had good reason to be concerned about blowback from Olsen and/or Davis.

Is it worth firing over? IDK.

JR knew the man he was hiring and what he was bringing to the table. A cold blooded business way of doing things and fixing the cap. JR couldn't even swing his dick if he wanted to.

Kraft hasn't fired Belicheck.

Like I said in the main forum. If you look at people who run successful big businesses or corporations, they tend to have that "it's just business" attitude. I'm not saying Olsen doesn't deserve a contract extension, but Hurney put us in a bad spot by keeping guys around because they're "family". Once again, I don't want to lose Olsen, maybe you have to pay him. It's a fine line and I'm just curious as to what went down.

Well, a culmination of rubbing guys the wrong way was Gettleman's undoing. So, he kinda slipped on that slippery slope that he loved to tread upon right up under the wheels. It's his own fault. If he were simply perceived as a nicer guy (even with refusing to overpay), maybe he'd still have his job.

Yep. You can only be unnecessarily abrasive for so long until you end up stepping in it. I agree with more decisions that Dave made than I disagree with, but his tact was quite often lacking at best and utterly absent at worst.

Rumor has it Gettleman suggested a Vegan-Gluten-Free, non-bojangles sweet Tea concessions menu.

I agree.  I kind of suspect how Gettleman treated players had more to do with this than an unwillingness to give out big contracts. You can refuse to pay big contracts without being a douche about it.  I wouldn't be surprised if Jerry wants someone who makes the same decisions but with a softer touch.

I don't have any inside info and that's probably just me projecting how I'd do things, though.

    • there is one common denominator in the 2003 & 2015 Carolina Panthers teams they both had ELITE top tier Qb play.  it would require a MVP type of season from Bryce Young to have the same type of success that Jake Delhomme had in  2003 & or Cam Newton in 2015 & lead this team to a SuperBowl is this going to happen or is there any reason to believe Bryce Young is capable of playing similar to Jake Delhomme in 2003 or Cam Newton in 2015 ? well no there is no absolutely NO reason whatsoever to believe that this is going to happen in 2026 ..just saying
    • I'd actually like to see Cherelus get a fair shot to win the job in camp. Wallace is decent in drop zone coverage, but he gets abused in the play action game and is often times out of position in the run game. It might just be me, but I swear every time I watch Wallace play, I see multiple plays a game were it looks like he's just trying to be blocked. Watching Cherelus last year he at least looked like he was trying to hit someone on every play. Wallace plays like a LB who doesn't trust what he sees and it makes him passive and cautious versus Cherelus who regardless of if his decision is right or wrong goes at it 100%.
    • Agreed.  Hasn’t happened to me either, but I feel very strongly about it.  That’s not just one of the worst things a woman could do to a man, it’s a power inherent to only women and is one of the worst things a HUMAN being can do to another.  A man can’t “hide” a pregnancy or maternity.  It’s impossible.  And that sucks for anyone that has to go through that. I always got a weird vibe off her and just found her very unlikeable.  Annoying even.  I’ve always been good at reading people and there was just something about her to me that was off-putting, somewhere under the surface.  And here we are…  she is despicable.
