Patriots Have Released DE Kony Ealy - Claimed By NYJ

Let's get two things straight:

1. You can argue that Kony was cut because he sucked but the more accurate reason was because he didn't fit or learn the system.

2. Calling Kony a bust isn't fair and hears why. He has only played three season in the NFL at a position that can take a few years to fully develop. Compare him to Charles Johnson who didn't have double digit sacks until his 4th season and Greg Hardy his 3rd.

Im not saying Kony will somehow become an all star in season 4 but he is only 25 years old and could still improve. He has always had to share time in a rotation with other defensive ends on our team which takes away snaps and lowers stats. He has more sacks than Charles Johnson did in his three seasons and only 3 less than Hardy. I wouldn't complain if we did resign him assuming Rivera wants 5 Ends on the roster. Peppers and Johnson may not have the Stamia for major snaps and Addison has always been a rotational player. Hall is a rookie who has made major mistakes in preseason. Keeping 5 defensive ends could be a smart decision. At best case Ealy reaches his potential or at minimum provides a solid player in the rotation that could give you 3-5 sacks.

Both Ealy and Robinson were projected in tds 2 or 3 so not sure where you are going with that argument. We had a need and had just drafted a first rd receiver. Hindsight is wonderful.

We had a need for 2 WR's and projected/hindsight "blah blah blah".

Go bring up the Early drafted thread, I said right at the time it was a mistake to take him over Robinson. So save your ignorant excuses for someone else.

Makes stupid decisions half the time. He's force fed the ball more-so than Cam force feeding KB in '14 and '16.

I personally don't get the hype. If you look at just his tape alone, he doesn't look that special. I get why people look at his stats and pop their eyes open wide, but very few times do I see him act as a top tier slot receiver that he's supposed to be.

Looks like he's trying to make a play with hardly time left on the clock and his team down by a ton. Feels like that's pretty obvious, no?

While obviously the time dictates a lot, this is a trait that comes all too often. If he just runs it straight through on most of his routes, he'd actually have better production and imo would give me a better perspective on him.

They had so many screens to Landry that went nowhere.

Landry's overrated, but the other guys are fair points.

For us, he would've been worth it had we won SB50. But then again, he was never good long term, so I'd say he's a bust.

But Gettleman was the one who first realized that and fleeced Bellicheck. Very few people have ever done that.

Wrong again

The Browns fleeced Belichick twice they got a 5th for Mingo and then traded a third for Jaime Collins whose their best defensive player, the cards also got Chandler Jones for Johnathan Cooper. Belichick has been getting fleeced long before Gettleidiot. But it won't matter anyways cause they can just plug in some no name still sleep walk to 11 wins

Ans just cause Cian Fahey says something doesn't mean is true, get off his jock

    • Right, so basically what I said in my first post about this last night. Tepper needs to use that big wallet of his in one of the few ways it can be used in the NFL given the cap.   Give Scourton a bigger signing bonus but not a fully guaranteed deal. Everyone wins in that scenario as if Scourton is smart and hires good money people, he'll take that bigger signing bonus and use it to make more money in the end over the next 4 years than if he just had his fully guaranteed deal and a smaller signing bonus.
    • It is all confusing and layered. SB is the cash you get very soon within weeks or in simple terms, its what you get to sign the paper work. Players and agents can agree on contract but what to "wait" to sign......teams don't like that cause you can "Carlos Boozer" yourself. In order to get that ink dry, while keeping the contract the same, portion it as a bonus to "sign" and get the funds with ________ .   * But Ive seen worded contracts that split the SB or a 20% to a later date. The beans counters can fill in the details about why certain dates are better and save the team money.. Theres tricks to the trade and accounting is full of them.    Ugh another big layer, is SB can be used to manipulate cap and players. Ill try to give a example that makes enough sense. Believe it or not having a owner like Tepper is a cheat code for this. He has cash in hand, where as Mark Davis had problem making pay roll and had to move the team to Vegas....... Tepper can give you 100,000,000 SB right now and the team can spread out the cap hit. Another owner doesn't have or want to give the player 100,000,000 in cash, but offered the same guaranteed contract in roster bonuses fully guaranteed over the next few years........ Which one do you want??? Everyone wants the money now, not before another inflation waves hits in 2 years. So it does 'pay" to have a owner like tepper that's able to have real cash on hand, while it also works GREAT for cap help. Heres a good video, if you can stand coked up pat and mask look-a-like AJ
