Matt Kalil is not worth the money

I just want the people who say this to provide a better option for this season.

Remmers got schooled again today at RT for the Vikings.

Kalil's deal is very team friendly, if he doesn't work out this year

I would have overpaid Whitworth.

As far as team friendly goes how much would it cost to cut him after 2 years?

Yeah there's an "out" after year 2 and we'd save 5 mill if we cut him but he'd still cost us 7 damn mill

But Ryan who apparently buy a proper pillow says Matt's healthy and going to be good so let's back up the brinks truck

fair but it seems whitworth went to the rams quickly how much are you going to guarantee to a player that  old?

That logic makes zero sense. Old or not the guy gets the job done and at the end of the day that's what you're looking for.

Instead we gave Kalil a boat load of money in hopes of him being good when he's been garbage for the last 3 or 4 years

He's been as good as Oher, imo.  Not great, gets beat on occasion, but serviceable.  A helluva lot better than the other OTs we've had lately.  Worth every penny of that contract?  No.  But the contract was made so that if he sucks, we can get out of it pretty easily.  One thing we have to remember is that the OL is all about chemistry.  Both of our OTs are new starters.  Maybe they'll get better with time.  Maybe the Bills' DL is that good.  Maybe Big Bro Kalil being absent had more of an impact due to chemistry and his brain on calling out presnap assignments.

Maybe he's just an absolute bust of a FA signing.  At least he was something.  Better than a DL convert, or Byron "But He's Left Handed!" Bell.  And his contract isn't bad if you look at the details instead of just whining over the total amount that he could possibly earn.

Image if you will if we had not signed Matt Kalil. With no Michael Oher, we would have either Amini or the rookie Moton starting at LT today.

No, we should have paid Whitworth or taken a chance on someone else like Rieff. I don't mind taking a chance on Kalil, but we paid him too much, and it should have been a prove-it deal. I thought we'd offer him an Oher type deal, which would have been fair.  Gettleman must have had a brain fart when he offered that contract.

I don't think it is overly surprising that Matt Kalil has not played well. His entire NFL career has been inconsistent. In fact, his rookie year was his best year and that was several years ago. Hopefully he figures it out and plays at least "average" going forward.

The good news is the Panthers are 2-0.

I thought the deal was basically a 2 year prove it deal since he could be cut with a manageable hit within the first 2 years.

    • I’m old enough to remember when I wanted to draft Njoku We brought back Mitchell and officially kept Tremble. Mitchell Evans isn’t going anywhere. Sanders who knows, he was awful last year I fully agree we need a better TE. This room is awful Njoku would be a massive help in the red zone. However it really seems like Dan and the FO prefer to go young on offense
    • You’re underselling Loveland imo. He’s so damn good. You can line him out wide and count on him to win 1 v 1. I don’t see that from Sadiq. Loveland is going to go over 1000 yards next season I’m not overly asking for a WR3. It’s just one of the few directions Morgan could go in round 1.  Let’s say Thieneman, Fano and Cooper are all on the board it’s a tough decision. I just don’t see how this team would take Sadiq over some of those guys given the way they run their offense. Our tight end room is easily bottom of the league so I can definitely see why someone would want a tight end though. At one point during the season I was on the Sadiq train as well. I just don’t think value wise for us specifically it makes sense given our team as a whole As far as tight ends go in this draft I really like Max Klare. Very smooth mover
    • Some of you need some serious help with the way 9 lives rent free in your heads I know for a fact, Dan loves Bryce. Bryce is his guy. This offense is very young and they’re asking Bryce to do a lot. With Idzik taking over playcalling duties it’s a move that is another step in the process of Bryce taking control of the offense. 24 years old. This youth movement on offense and putting more on 9’s shoulders is going to pay off in the long run
