Post NE Injuries

JP went down briefly when he landed on his shoulder but returned to action.

Trai Turner rolled his ankle but was back in (the next series?).

Mario Addison tweaked/hyper extended his knee but finished out the game.

Funchess (pronounced funch-is, looking at you Aikman) cramped up but came back out like a baws for one final big grab before he went out again (I can't over state how huge it was and his stock immediately shy rocketed after gutting it out)

Byrd broke his forearm.

Kurt Coleman injured his knee and i have no idea how severe it is, does anybody know?

Our backup safety, Cox (?) was injured (I don't know how or what) and Colin Jones was next up and got scored on by Amendola.

Lots of injuries piling up...

A list of current free agents out there. If Coleman is out for an extended period of time, I would expect one of the following available safeties to be signed:
1) Jairus Byrd (could we wash the stank that is a prior Saints defender off of him)

2) Aaron Williams - really liked him in Buffalo. Not sure what happened to him

3) Dwight Lowery - I don't know about you but I'd always be down to bring in a Bad Boy and Will Smith's former detective partner for a visit (ok... his name is Mike but you get the point)

4) Will Blackmon

A few more down the list but I'd be ok with any of the these 4 for stop-gap purposes.

IIRC pretty sure Aaron Williams has a screwed up neck.

Yeah, agreed, had loads of time and eventually someone is going to get open. Just so happened to be Colin Jones.

Jones is the weakest link in our secondary (that's why hes 3rd string), but yeah, with that much time Brady makes that pass 9 out 10 times.  I think Cox played OK FWIW.

Respect! Dude limped on the field, made a clutch 3rd down catch to keep the game winning drive alive, and then limped off. You gotta love that poo.

Cox played the best he could under the circumstances. To be thrust into a game of that magnitude with zero significant snaps during the week is no easy feat. I think he held up the best he could tbh. A whole week of gameplan reps this week will do wonders.

I'd need to see the tape again.  But I heard the commentators make that same timing comment.  From the replay it really looked like Jones not following a man and getting flat beat.  But being beat by Brady/Amendola kinda happens.  Maybe it is just my bias of having seen him be subpar at safety for so long.  Love his special teams contributions, but Colin Jones in the game at safety NEVER makes me feel good..... quite the opposite.

Our safety position is as scary as we have known it would be all off season. Heck I haven't been too impressed by Adams either.

All this being said, Coleman is a beast. If Kurt has to miss any time we are .... going to need to pray for our offense to match the points that are gonna be hung on us. Our front 7 has tremendous potential though. It was encouraging to see Mario go back in, if the front 7 get a rhythm it could hide our safety deficiencies some (fingers crossed).

    • What I love and hate about this team is it’s more filled with potential breakout players than ever before. JT, XL, Coker, Smith-Wade, Ikem, Trevin… and even Bryce are all guys I could legitimately see taking the next step. But the problem with having so many of those guys is that team success somewhat relies on them taking that step, and some are bound not to. That being said, I’m cautiously optimistic given our softer schedule, the way the offense clicked late last year, and the direction we finally have at GM, coach, and QB. Could see us as a sneaky playoff team.
    • Me, signing up for FanDuel Network, and then canceling FanDuel Network:
    • Smith-Wade for me. He has the path to some decent hefty snaps in Evero’s scheme. He held his own last year and improved as he continued to get snaps— If he makes some strides, could be a very capable nickel.  I agree with Sanders. Bryce had some trust in him that final Falcons game post crazy head-stand.  Bryce looked for him a lot that final game and made some critical catches to get us the W. Seems he’s put in major work so I’m hopeful about him.  Wallace will have an offseason under his belt. I like him a lot, was higher graded than most remember in his draft (I.e Brugler had him LB3/70 overall) but he isn’t as cerebral of an LB as we’re used to. I think he could thrive if we get D captain/film-junky type next to him— because right now that’s Jewell.  Still a bit cautious but love the talent. Rozeboom may snag some playing time from him if he’s still working out the kinks.
