CMC is not a RB...he is a WR

Yea I can't defend his running struggles any  longer. Even with how bad the oline was Stewart had a few good carries today. McCaffrey got stoned on every single one and that's been a trend for 99 percent of his runs. God only knows Shula isn't helping him with all of his runs being inside runs, but even factoring in the piss poor playcalling and runblocking, McCaffrey is still been stinking up the joint running. He's always getting stopped by the first defender that gets his hands on him and that's a huge no-no for even mediocre running backs.

On his first run he got tackled by a guy on the ground with one hand.

He's a good football player. I just think we need to invest in a better offensive line to make the most of him. He needs to get into the second level to make a difference. Our offense as a hole... We do lots of things but nothing particularly well. I would settle for doing one things really well right now. Even if that was Stewart up the middle for 3 yards.

He's the least of our worries at the moment.

Agreed. Out biggest worry (at least on offense) is our mediocre offensive line. The RB's don't have a lot of room to operate and Cam is still getting hit too much. Factor in Shula's suspect/inconsistent playing calling and that's a recipe for disaster on the offensive side of the ball.

We lost a game a game by 2 TD's today and the defense only up 3 points. That sums up just how bad our offense played today. Then again, under this coaching staff we lost a SB to a Denver team that gained less than 200 yds for the entire game.

You guys are putting too much stock into this WR thing. What makes him dynamic is getting him lined up on LBs. If he's at receiver, he's gonna have a corner on him most plays, which takes away his advantage. He has to play RB to be a successful receiver. The problem is, when he's in the game, it's pretty much going to be a pass, because no one respects him as a runner.

exactly. so in limens terms, he's too bad to be a Wr and too bad to be a RB. 8th over though!

Its hard to tell what he is given how poo Shula is and the line.

it's really not.

Shula aside CMC has had plenty of opportunities to make people miss in space or show off his speed. He's done neither.

CMC isn't faster than anyone, and i think today might have been the first player he made miss.

He doesn't pass the eyeball test at all.

Just speaking in a stastical sense, when was the last time there was a successful white RB? Hillis had a good season or two, then you’d probably have to go back to Alstott (more of a FB). Then after that —  Czonka or Riggins? He’s got a serious recent trend to buck.

    • Poster board? Were you trying to use the term poster child?
    • I mean, you're acting like we don't see the tippy-toe bunny hops, jump throws more than normal (with both feet dangling in the air every which a way), and off-platform but off-balance throws that arrive short or sail high. Could that be bad mechanics due to being short? Could a seeming propensity to bail the pocket towards the sidelines early as opposed to sitting in the pocket tall and strong, surveying his reads, be an attempt at trying to see an open throwing lane? I'm not saying that what you're saying isn't a contributing factor to what has been an underwhelming display of executing the QB position, but this is year three, and if the lightbulb hasn't switched on by now---if you haven't figured out that guys are faster, stronger and generally more athletic, then what's it going to take? It's hard to forget that "mental processing" was supposed to be Bryce Young's superpower. Are you telling me that he can't nail down such an easy concept as, "I can't get away with the things I did in college at the pro level," is that right? If he can't get past that, then that surely limits his ability to successfully execute all the other stuff.  Look, I'm not trying to be flippant. I acknowledge that playing pro football is more complex than a lot of fans realize, but all we can do, as fans, is observe. One of my favorite things to do is just look at the greater picture and think what part human nature is playing in the many decisions that are being made or have to be made. You're absolutely correct that fans don't know exactly what's going on, but that is by design, and in many ways it's just the nature of the beast. Some things we can't know. That being said, the professionals screw the hell up all the time. The professionals disagree all the time. These disagreements can be within the same franchise or from franchise to franchise. And sometimes these decisions are all over the place, so excuse me if I ain't exactly buying the I-know-more-than-thee sentiment and that that means that professionals always make better decisions than fans would about certain players. Some of this stuff is simply luck or a crapshoot.
