Outside of those mentioned, the only two other owners that could afford the team and could make visionary changes to the business side of the franchise would be Elon Musk and George Lucas.

Lucas would sign Jar-Jar Binks, no thanks

Well to be fair, the team has been on the market for less than 24 hours.

Technically it isn't really for sale yet.

What I meant was that to my knowledge, most of them are just rich, but haven't expressed interest in ownership or even in sports period.  Take the SAS guy for example.  The article basically said that he is rich, and he is North Carolina.  Didn't even discuss if he is a Football fan or if he would be willing to deal with the public attention that comes with being an NFL owner.

IMO, the only likely candidates at this point are Bruton Smith, and the minority owners.  Anybody else is a WAG.

Granted.

One thing to consider too: The city of Charlotte is heavily invested in keeping the Panthers.  They've stated their intent to reach out to wealthy parties in the area in an effort to secure local ownership.

That's the kind of situation where others mentioned could come into play.
