David Newton ESPN Staff Writer

The NFL's investigation into an allegation by Marty Hurney's ex-wife that she was harassed by the Panthers' interim general manager could come as soon as today, multiple sources told ESPN.com. If cleared – and indications are that will be the case – Hurney still is expected to be named the fulltime GM. Hurney's ex-wife withdrew the harassment charge in court after a judge denied her attempt at a restraining order, but the NFL continued with its investigation headed by Lisa Friel. Hurney has been on paid administrative leave.

Whatever

seems like we will have the Hurney/Rivera/Newton package until its time to completly clean house.

Perhaps keeping hurney is our best shot to prolong the nucleus and wgat we have going right now, keeping Newton and all that we have going for us.

A new gm would perhaps start that clean house process earlier than we would like. That, or it could cause tensions with an Owner wanting one thing, a GM wanting something else, and a coach that wants something other than the gm.

As far as this regime goes, it might be best to keep hurney.

Otherwise, what we have may collapse and be aborted quicker.

And wgen it does, we then can clean house the correct way..  new gm, new coach

and who knows, we may look back and be glad we stuck with hurney because of timing, and we land the guy we really need in a few years as opposef to giving a gm hired in 2018 due process and time. Kinda like what led up to us getting Newton.

Im hoping this regime can get us a ring, but i am hopeful and looking forward to a pure, clean flush in a few years if it doesnt work. Just gotta really nail this new owner search.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
