Eagles DE Michael Bennett has been indicted on a felony charge of injuring a 66-year-old paraplegic woman at Super Bowl 51.

The 66-year-old woman was working at Houston's NRG Stadium trying to control access to the field. A warrant in the state of Texas has been issued for Bennett's arrest. Then a member of the Seahawks, Bennett attended the Super Bowl to watch his brother Martellus. Michael was accused of shoving his way onto the field after the woman told him to use a different entrance. Bennett faces a penalty of up to 10 years in prison in addition to a $10,000 fine.

Question: is shoving a young healthy woman you know into a bed of guns worse than shoving a paraplegic woman you don’t know into the ground?

If if not then Bennett should be immediately commissioner exempt listed while Eagles have to eat the cap hit.

This is a good point.    And in Hardy's case, it was a lady that had a ton of issues and I think arrests before herself, and still, he got crushed.

Though he did it RIGHT after Ray Rice so bad timing on his part.

Devil's advocate:

No they aren't equal because this situation doesn't have the label of "domestic violence" attached to it.

He pushed a stranger. A paraplegic older woman stranger, but still a stranger.

While it doesn't look good, it's not quite the same PR hit that Hardy and Rice were. I don't anticipate anything coming of this but I've been wrong before.

We’ll see. Bennett’s had a lot of bad press and that’s really all that matters here. I doubt much of anything comes of it legally, however the league doesn’t care about that and I would bet on him getting at least a several game suspension.

A month and a half later? For the State, the best they get is a misdemeanor and at worst the case gets dropped. Overzealous prosecutors trying to make political grandstands always overcharge stars. This will get headlines and will likely help the DA win votes for a future move in politics.

The story made it to the front page of NFL.com. I seriously doubt if it will be brushed under the carpet now.

I haven't had much good to say about him or his brother, this won't help much.

There must be something more to the shove than just a simple push.

    • The fact that we're STILL questioning if he should be starting is all that needs to be said.   If this week doesn't turn out well, the boiling point could hit soon.  Don't think 0-3 does it, but it could be soon.  Considering our schedule, it may happen if things fall off the rails.   We have 3 winnable games by week 9.  If we're just sitting 2-7 or 1-8 after the Packers game, that would be near the end point of this situation in its entirety.    It took what, a 1-10 start to can Reich in his first year?  I think a 1-8 start to Bryce in his 3rd would be reasonable to politely end his tenure in Carolina.
