Fowler asks if Cam's, Luke's and Kemba's best years being wasted.

We have seen people here say plenty of times that we're wasting Luke's and especially Cam's best years. Well Scott Fowler is perhaps the first journalist to ask the question, but he also includes the highly talented Kemba Walker and ties it all up with Charlotte. 

 

"The Panthers are obviously closer to their championship goal than the Hornets are. Carolina went 11-5 in 2017 and made the playoffs before losing in the first round. Old/new Panthers GM Marty Hurney – who drafted Newton and Kuechly in the first place – has spent this offseason trying to give both his star quarterback and his standout linebacker more weapons to allow them to be great.

"But will it be enough? The Hornets tried to give Walker more talent, too. And while they are no longer a 7-59 laughingstock like they were in 2012, no matter who surrounds Walker, they can’t seem to climb more than halfway up the mountain.

"Like Cam and Luke, Kemba keeps chasing the dream. In the right circumstances, with the right teammates, they all have the ability to catch it.

It will be an opportunity lost if this Queen City trio can't finally get to the mountaintop. Could you blame any one of them for leaving Charlotte to salvage their chances to win some hardware if it comes to that? Being real, it's not happening for Kemba any time soon as a Hornet. Perhaps some feel the same in regards to Cam and Luke, but at least it's within the realm of possibility...with the right blend of hard work, personnel, and luck.

Basketball is my favorite sport by far but the NBA is fugged. Jordan was right, if you're not one of the 3-4 super teams, you don't stand a chance. The Hornets might as well be G-League team at this point. I almost wish Kemba would have been traded to the Cavs so he could have a chance to play on the national stage in games that matter.

At least the Panthers will be rid of their average-at-best owner soon.

Definitely, just like Steve Smith was.    Granted, Panthers aren't on Browns level, but with the talent we've had, we should have done more, and that is probably the issue here.    ZERO back to back winning seasons in franchise history.      I think a big issue is this city's acceptance of mediocrity.     You're talking about a football team that kept Fox around for a long time, then hired a coach slightly better but basically his twin in Ron Rivera.    Then you have Clifford, another "not bad, but mediocre" coach that keeps his job (to be fair, I don't know who is available that's better).     Look at how long Cho kept his gig as GM of the Hornets as well.

There has never been a more accurate statement from the observer ever. The worst owner in sports has done everything in his power to waste their best years. When the football gods finally threw us a bone to rid ourselves of him, we then got his yes man Marty to do everything in his power to was their best years.

We're talking about apples and oranges here.  The Panthers have been to the playoffs 4 times during Cam and Luke's tenure.  They went to the Super Bowl and finished 17-2 one year.  This is in a league where only 6 teams make it from a conference of 16 teams, including only 2 wild cards.  The only "waste" is that they weren't able to win it all, but they certainly have had a great deal of success during that time.  

The Hornets have only made the playoffs twice during Kenya's tenure and haven't made it to the second round yet in a conference where 8 teams make it in out of 15.  Of course, it's harder for the Hornets to have success than the Panthers based on the structure of both leagues, but the Hornets have "wasted" Kemba more.

      I thought this presented an interesting point. It is fair to wonder now, about switching the two QBs as so many tried to do that first year where Bryce was trash and CJ looked great.  It is almost the reverse scenario now and I wonder what CJ would look like here with better weapons better coaching and better protection. Overall, compared year one.  If each player had been in the other place for the three years. I would love to see CJ with this team now.  Just to see.

      I really have no clue what to expect sunday.  To quote one of my favorite bands of all time, Operation Ivy "All I know is that I dont know".  We could win, hell we could win convincingly, we also could lose in blowout fashion.  We could be in a back and forth game with whoever has the ball last winning.  I legit HAVE NO CLUE.  This isnt the dominant bills teams of the past, Allen is still elite and can win any game by himself.  That said, heres my stab at looking at things. Our defense is made to stop this kind of team.  Strong against the run, a great corner but meh talent around the field.  We've stopped prolific run offenses this season.   Javonte Williams - Season low yards and ypa against us. De'Von Achane - Season low yards and ypa against us Breece hall - 3rd worst yards in a game Fact of the matter is, we arent what we were last year, we are a good run defense and that lines up well against the bills, Stop the run.  For once the lack of moving Jaycee might be a good thing, he will essentially lock down a side and without multiple real weapons thats fine.  Buffalo does not have an elite guy, theyve got a gaggle of average dudes.  Allen will stay away from Jaycee, it will be on Mike Jack and Chau Smith Wade do to their part and they will be matched with guys they can play at the level of. On offense, we do what the bills are bad at.  We run the ball well, and they suck at stopping the run.  Rico and Chuba will need 30 carries.  Andy Dalton will need to be opportunistic.  My big fear is what we learned last year, Dalton can get overconfident and make bonehead throws.  Its this simple.  Run the ball, stop the run.  Dont turn the ball over.  If we do these 3 things, we will be in a position to win in the 4th quarter.
