A Starting Safety Has Hit The Market - Bengals Releasing S George Iloka

Maybe. I know very little about him, but PFF had Adams rated better last year than Iloka. Iloka wasn't rated badly, just worse (71 to 75) Maybe Cincy released him because he's decent, but not good enough over the other guys they have to justify the cost.

That's definitely the reason. But Iloka can do what we ask Adams to do a lot but his a much better size/speed combo than Adams.

Not knocking Adams though, his knowledge is invaluable for our defense, and I think our secondary would have been so much worse without him last season, and we can do worse than him this season.

What’s Artis-Payne’s hit on our finances? I am unsure of how it would break down if we were to release him but if we free up more money than we lose he would be a no-brainer for me based on his age and our current stable of talent at the position.

Nothing. He makes less than Ben Jacobs, $705,000. But we are right at 6 mil under, we could rearrange some furniture.

We've got 5.8 mil in cap space if OTC is correct, and could easily clear a few more if needed.

Not to mention, the cap is a myth and can be manipulated all to hell. We're going to have to replace a lot of guys, but give Iloka a contract with bigger money next year when 5-6 older guys and decent chunks of change come off our books.

Yeah, this makes perfect sense and could set us for the next four years or so.

Unless Iloka would take cheap deal (cut Colin Jones) like Boston (1 year, 1.5M), he'd be too expensive for us. Based on the interest already, something tells me he will be too expensive. We technically could fit him in, but then we'd have no room at all, god forbid we have another injury.

I can see him getting a contract like we gave Searcy with Seattle. Shame Cincy didn't do this back in March.

This is what I was referring to earlier.  What is the chance the staff wants to bring in a guy this late, for more money, who might not really be any better than what we have.

Most people on here that want him are basing it off of height, weight, and name.  I have my doubts they have even watched him play often.

    • In a lot of ways it makes sense to just draft a tackle early so they have flexibility with icky's injury and Motons not getting younger. I'd love for them to resign BC cause to me he looks pretty good anywhere they put him
    • Rods the one who needs to go if they don't win a cup soon, Overall I like the way Tulsky operates, do i wish he had pivoted to several smaller moves instead of going all in on a big acquisition? Obviously.   But RBA is the one I'm locked onto, he is too stuck in his ways and if if "his way" can't get somthing done he just triples down and proves his insanity by trying the same stupid crap over and over, the facebook casuals will be like but but but 8 years in a row making the playoffs.... yes we'll guess what we should have at least a cup to show for it, yes only one team wins every year but this year will be the 8th consecutive year making the playoffs.... heck none of us even get excited about that and haven't in four years minimum.  Our top guys are nearing the peak of their prime the time is now, but the canes seem content to stand pat and "make the playoffs" anther 5-8 years in a row.
    • #Panthers TE Tommy Tremble has a $2 million guarantee that is triggered today at 4 p.m. I don’t expect any movement there, fwiw. Tremble is due a $3.67 million base salary this season. He has another $2.4 million in incentives on his deal, per Over the Cap. https://x.com/mike_e_kaye/status/2032117015121391697?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA
