From the stands, Donte Jackson looked like the best player on the field yesterday

That was a poo show. Only myself and a couple of others liked the pick. Even Igo didn't like it comparing Donte to Teddy Williams because they're both "fast".

lol. Still the jury is still out. It was one game against an average QB who didn't play in the preseason. But so far daddy likes what he sees.

I'm a huge Hurney critic and even I was amazed at how negative people were

People automatically assume since a corner is small that they're a nickel. Common misconception and one that saw often in that thread. We got faster, meaner and better with a drip of swag. Hurney 2.0 just might suprise us all.

Might.

They were down their C and that’s it. Our OL was in much worse shape, we appeared to be missing a C too. Our OL was especially bad once turd showed up.

Frederick was the only one out. He's not the only one hurt.

Prior to week one, it wasn't dead certain that Zack Martin was going to be able to play (hyperextended knee in preseason). La'el Collins was said to be dealing with some injury problems too, though in his case I don't really believe Collins is as good as people think he is anyway.

it was the Gaulden pick that pissed me off when I thought we could move up and get Reid (probably just needed one of our two 3rds next year) or take a more established guy in Harrison.

Or move up a few picks and take Orlando Brown who may have come in handy at RT yesterday.

The other pick I didn’t like was Haynes

Ryan Delaire 2.0, just 25 pounds lighter IMO.

I think he did a pretty good job yesterday, especially for a rookie starting his first game.

I'd feel better about it if Dak Prescott hadn't looked terrible.

Here's hoping Jackson looks equally good when he's facing a quarterback that isn't putting a bunch of his throws in the dirt.

We all know Dak can carve a team up given time. He was constantly hurrying throws because he was under pressure.

His closing speed was insane, he was laying wood out there, they were targeting him all game and constantly made the play.

His penalties were things they wouldn't call on him if he was a third year player.

Also I appreciate a guy who so obviously never stops talking poo when he's on the field.

Shake them dreads, Donte

yeah, hard to make out much on a TV in terms of DB play.   About all they showed was him being grabby.  Which I don't mind.  I have always thought the Seattle D had the right mind set.   Get physical and stay physical and then the refs will just have to let a lot of it go.

I think when Martin got hurt we weren’t sure, but there wasn’t any doubt even the week before. Martin and Collins weren’t on this week’s injury report at all. We dominated them way more than I expected. It wasn’t just up the middle due to Frederick (Looney isn’t Amini bad), the edge pressure was solid and we didn’t really blitz much. It was effective when we did like Shaq but I don’t remember much blitzing at all.

I get all that.  What I've responded to mostly is that the Cowboys line has had a reputation for being one of the best in the league.

I don't think they're that right now, and if we're judging our guys against that standard, I think it's a mistake.

Jackson did play decent for a rookie in his first game but he did not look great at all. His PI and defensive holding penalties we're obvious and avoidable. He was in good position but then tugged on the jersey or grabbed the receiver unnecessarily. He was in position to make the play already. He was too aggressive and it was too easy to call it. What he will learn is to be more subtle and know where the officials usually are standing. He will learn how to impede but not foul obviously. For his first game he was ok but great?? Hardly.  And let's see how he plays against real receivers before we crown home as the best player on the field.

People on here just want to ease their insecurities. He's going to be on Sanu next week if not Ridley. Hell, if we're playing zone, they're going to get Julio on him.
