McCaffery's pace

TN05

Recommended Posts

He's had a hot start compared to his extremely underwhelming start last year. I think a big part of that is many more touches and the Oline actually opening holes for him to run through. That and of course him gaining weight and bouncing of tackles .

I think hes bound to have at least a few games where he's not going to be going off for 100 yards of total offense every time , for example  where we will get pitted up against defenses like Philadelphia who are almost impossible to run against

The early signs look good but only time will tell. Would love to see him become the 3rd player ever to get 1000 yards rushing and 1000 receiving (other two : Marshall Faulk [1999 : 1381 rushing and 1048 receiving] and Roger Craig [1985: 1050 rushing , 1016 receiving] )

Another overall single season record to keep a lookout on. Chris Jonson's 2,509 yards total from scrimage in a single season [2009] )

He won't maintain it.  Give it a couple more weeks of film and people will scheme to stop him.  That's fine.

What matters is how we adjust to that.

People have already been scheming to stop him.  Was pretty clear watching the Cowboys he was their main focus.

Turner's been exploiting it.

I don’t think these numbers are sustainable and I actually hope CJ gets more touches because we want cmac to be as fresh aspossible if/when we make the playoffs. He’s getting a fugton of touches.

I don't think they're necessarily unsustainable, but with that said I have a hard time seeing those kinds of numbers being produced.  And it's not that I think other teams will stop him (granted, they might) but for me it's more that Norv is gonna do what he needs to do on a weekly basis.  That might involve a heavy emphasis on McCaffrey or it might now.  I expect he'll adapt on a weekly basis to whatever he thinks is the best approach.

This, plus CMC is in his second season hes young if he was an older back I might buy into it.

    • Was at the game and NYCFC honestly outplayed CLT the whole way.  Khalina and Zaha carried the team.  Zaha's wife on IG making it sound like he's gone come July. They're going to have to pay him or find a big time replacement because the team looks like pretty lost without him.
    • No one's saying LaMelo has no blame we're responding to you acting like he's the reason they lost. The scapegoating and blaming the teams woes on his personality is where it's like Cam Newton all over again. It was a failure on multiple fronts and primarily Lee's. Dude said ON AIR pregame that they had to protect the paint and if that was his gameplan going in he couldn't have botched it more. As the commentators said Ball's a rhythm guy and Orlando was preventing him for getting any kind of flow going. I'm a normie watching on TV and said they needed to bait them into fouling to combat that. They didn't even try until the 2nd half when it was too late. I think it's fair to expect the star to overcome whatever but LaMelo was not the problem in that game and he's not what is holding the team back. He's the only reason they're flirting with being a great team. I kinda put the center play on Lee too. Moose is great until he's up against a big who can body him. We've always known that and that's what Kalkbrenner is for. I don't know if it would have changed much but Kalkbrenner should have had more minutes than him.  And moving forward with the center position, I just think it's the time to trade Diabate while his stock's high and that's not an indictment of his game. He's like an evolved combination of Biyombo and PJ. He's a great rim protector and the strength issue is just what you're going to have to deal with if you want that. But Kalkbrenner is perfectly capable of protecting the rim and we gotta get away from the undersized centers or it'll always be a problem for us.
    • Honestly its why that Jalen Coker grab was a big deal.  I'd been warming up to the idea of a sadiq pick and was adamantly against a receiver...but this altered my train of thought.  I mean For instance, Cade Otton signed for 3 yr 30 mil contract...thats not dramatically different than the rookie payscale for #19 (4 year 20 mil with 5th year option), however you KNOW otton is decent...no clue if Sadiq will be anything.
