Eric Washington/Luke Kuechly vs Mike Shula this week

I wonder what Shula even does on that staff. Shurmur designed the offense and calls the plays. Maybe he makes sure everyone's tablets are connected to the stadium wifi?

Jokes aside, there is a lot of institutional knowledge of the Panthers in the Meadowlands between Shula, Gettleman and J. Stew. Those guys have been around basically every coach and player on our roster that wasn't added this past offseason. I wouldn't be too worried about the offense given the changes Norv brought, but I could see them moving the ball on us more than we're used to early the game. Hopefully Reid catches them off guard with something they haven't seen on tape.

I'm not sure it's going to be that easy for Shula to share the "secrects" of the Panthers.  We've already seen a VERY different O from Norv, so I'm not sure what info they can pass.  As far as defensively, I'm sure they would LOVE Shula to try to "scheme" against the Panthers D.  The counter play that Luke and Washington could come up with would be fun.

At the end of the day though, it's going to depend on line play.  If the Panthers lines win, we win.  And if they lose, the Giants win.

  Which is why it’s a non-issue.

And not just Shula but the Giants' O hasn't scored 30 points in 36 games with Eli, so it's Shula with a terrible terrible OL and QB. We should be able to handle their O with ease, but knowing the Panthers wouldn't be shocked to see us allow 40

    • In theory, you can argue anything.   We have a weak and erratic pass attack.  It just is what it is.  The eye don’t lie.      Well it lies once every season.   In Atlanta lol
    • True enough but medical procedures a have been rapidly advancing and you would have to think he has access to the best doctors, therapists, etc. So is it the same as it was ten years ago? 5 years? I don’t know but would think the possibility exists that they can fix and rehab it.   I mean, I have seen him get pushed around before so am not calling him Superman. But just say that maybe a guy goes down this week, you never know, our depth is pretty thin. If he could be available we would certainly be better off.
    • Yep a 24 year old still trying to figure it out himself  3 seasons with 3 totally different WR’s to start each year. 2 different systems  Then like you said a bunch of young pass catchers that are trying to figure out things themselves. Bryce is older than both Coker and TMac. This is such a young group  TMac and Coker understand the game though. Understand soft spots in zones. Understand coverages. Spacing. Route running. These are the types Young excels with. It’s why Young was able to extend the careers of Adam Thielen and David Moore. I’d like to see us add a legit deep threat still though and a pass catching TE so Young can take advantage of the MOF which is something he’s proven he’s more than capable of
