To those claiming the NFL is rigged...

Recommended Posts

The referees definitely nudge the games. It’s not about being the least penalized team it’s about when the refs are making those calls and non calls. And they screwed us right when we were about to make a huge stop and gifted them a TD. Same with the push offs they didn’t call.

They were being egregiously ignorant. I’m not saying the Steelers weren’t a better team. But had this game been called fairly it’s likely 21-38 not 21-52.

I've seen plenty of games that had nothing to do with the Panthers be rigged or just terribly one sided calls. Like the fact all TDs are reviewed but not for the Steelers.

I don't believe in my heart that it is rigged, but the fact that they didn't really review that TD that wasn't a TD by Vance McDonald was one of the worst calls I've ever seen. No way that should have been a TD. Just no way!z

I'll just say this, and it can be interpreted in multiple ways.

The NFL is a business (BIG business). Businesses do what is in their best interest financially.

Read in to that as you will.

Ends justify the means. Doesn’t make business sense to have a high profile team not do well in the NFL. It’s always about the ratings and money.

Here's the problem with the notion that the refs cost us (or any team) a game:

We had plenty of good plays that did not get flagged.

Likewise, we had plenty of bad plays that happened all on our own without referee assistance.

For the theory to hold water, you've got to suggest that somehow the referee interference caused us to also play poorly on other plays where they didn't interfere.

Sit back and read that objectively and tell me it doesn't sound ridiculous.

The refs didn't cause us to give up a 34 yard play on third and three where we rushed two guys and dropped nine into coverage.

The refs didn't cause us to let James Conner run through our defense like they weren't even there.

And the refs didn't make Cam Newton throw up a crazy throw that resulted in a pick six.

Those are just a few out of dozens of examples where the Panthers played poorly without help from the refs, or anyone else.

The refs didn't cause us to play badly. We did that all on our own

Stop trying to use logic and reason with these people. Let them continue to live in their little fantasy universe, where it’s truly the Panthers vs the World. Where “the man” spends every waking moment trying to conspire more ways to screw over those plucky Cardiac Cats.

Obviously, we need to completely ignore the fact that the NFL literally spent over $4,000,000 trying to suspend Tom Brady due to a football having marginally less air in it than another. And of course, we must ignore the fact that refs aren’t automated machines who make the exact same judgement call in the exact same situations each game (much like the strike zone differences between umpires in the MLB). I mean it’s pretty obvious Mr. Scot. Once you eliminate all logic and reason, it’s clear that everything is a conspirarcy. In fact, I wonder what Clete Blakeman was doing on the morning of September 11, 2001. Hmmm....

I log on here very rarely and this is the main reason why. I’ve never been so embarrassed while reading online comments before. Grown men crying and whining over a team they have no offiliation with losing. Blaming refs, conspiracies, inside shenanigans, everything under the sun except their own team laying a giant egg. Little known fact, the Panthers would be 386-0 with 23 Super Bowls of it wasn’t for those meddling refs.

Nobody said we didn't play badly. The Op is about NFL/Officials meddling.

Good luck not questioning these things in life.

well if the NFL is rigged and they hate Reid, does anyone that thinks that honestly believe they would allow Reid and the Panthers in a super bowl where they pay some famous singer to sing the National Anthem with him kneeling on the biggest game of the year? Why do we even watch the games and have threads about them and the team if its all rigged and they hate us?

If it's not rigged then the Refs are some of the worst in professionals sports.

    • It's just a talking head.  Talking about gambling. If anybody takes the under on 4.5 wins, they're most likely losing their money.   So he's only saying if you want to bet on a possible sleeper, take the over.  It's not rocket science.  Pathetic that so many on the huddle have reduced themselves to posting purely trash every time they hit the submit button.
    • I mean I think the best case scenario has to hit for the Panthers and everyone else in the NFCS has to hit their worst case scenario.  Personally, I think this is the year that NO finally collapses and I think they finish 4th in the division regardless.  ATL is overrated but still likely a 6-9 win team. TB plays tough football, their defense will be there but their success depends on the offense, they too are a 6-9 win team.  The Panthers are probably 4-6 wins at best. If they find some sort of momentum during the season and get 7-8 wins, and TB and ATL struggle then maybe but I find it very unlikely.
    • We screwed up a couple years ago taking Bryce in the first place.  Nobody held a gun to our head to jump from #9 to #1.  Most people who keep up with draft news knew this 2024 QB class was loaded and we should have waited, which I advocated. It was a dumb move and I knew it.  Now we have to roll with Bryce another year.  That's fine, because this 2025 class isn't that great.  I like Ewers, but not super high on him.  If Bryce shows improvement, which I think he will, that should get him at least one more season before we have to decide on if he's the permanent answer or not.  I've said before, the 2026 draft is the next window for a franchise QB if Bryce isn't the answer. Bryce gets this year and next at a minimum.
