Lots of talk going around about who we want to replace Rivera but I haven’t seen much on potential GM candidates. I’m thinking that maybe Tepper fires Hurney and keeps Ron, let’s his new hire evaluate Ron next year.

Whos out there that impresses you?

Dont see real reason to fire him...

Marty’s draft talent evaluation is exceptional.

His free agent signings and cap management are woof.

Id like to see him stay on in scouting, but bring in a better budget person

I wouldn't say his FA signings have been bad.

Delhomme

Stephen Davis

Ken Lucas

Jeremy Shockey

Mike Wahle

And a bunch of solid contributors. No FA Hurney signed has been detrimental to our cap. His weakness is giving our guys huge contracts.

Hurney's first round draft talent evaluation is exceptional. He crapped the bed pretty heavily from the 2nd on with a few exceptions here and there.

Jimmy Raye III is still a legit candidate if there is an opening.

I like Raye, but I feel like that one would make more sense if Rivera were retained since they're old colleagues.

Not seeing he couldn't work with anybody else, mind you. Just talking about that makes more sense in my mind.

    • Wow, just looked up some stats, yea... Olsen stands no chance. What would everyone say about Zach Ertz's chances at making the HOF? Exactly, nobody would even consider it a possibility. Olsen played in 31 more games than Ertz did, but is only 595 yards and 7 TDs behind Olsen's numbers.  And while Olsen has the 3 straight 1k seasons and Ertz only has 1, they each have the same number of seasons with more than 800 yards and Ertz's high season is slightly above Olsen's. A repeat of last season for Ertz, playing in 17 games with 654 yards and 7 TDs would push him past Olsen's yardage, tie his TDs, and have done it in almost a full season less of games played, while also having a SB ring. Olsen being the first TE to have 3 straight 1k seasons is pretty much the only feather in his HOF resume's cap, and unfortunately that won't be something to even get him consideration in the end.
    • I actually think that as long as he has a solid camp and makes the team (which is more likely than not), that Horn will have a bigger role than some expect, because he really is just different than any of the others. Most #6 WR's won't even be active on game days, let alone get any snaps.  But his speed/agility is unique compared to the rest of the WR unit to where they're going to have plays in the game plan every week to utilize him.  Even if at times he's just out there as a decoy to keep safeties honest by having him run some go routes, or putting him in motion for play action to force the defense to react.
    • That's... a wild jump to a false equivalence. If my boss called me and asked, "Why do you think you ran into issues with this project?" and I think it's because I took it easy on a routine part of the job that I mistakenly thought I had perfected/mastered, I'm telling the truth and getting better. Sounds like your industry/company is garbage and full of turnover if they don't let people grow on the job.
