Yup a starter home cost about 5k in taxes.

In laws bought a house in S. Jersey cash and still need to save $800 a month to pay taxes for it.

We did the same thing here in Charlotte and we're at about 2K a year for taxes. Disgusting.

Everybody should move out of Jersey.

You can "own" a house in Jersey but you'll still have to bust ur ars to pay taxes for it.

You dont "own" anything. The govt allows you to be in charge of maintaining it in exchange for you paying rent (property taxes). Sure you can transfer ownership to someone else if you want but try not paying those taxes and see how long you are allowed to live in "your" house before the govt throws you out.

Ur not schooling me. There are ways to go beyond warranty deeds to where you do own that piece of land. But I'm not schooling u am i?

Thus "own". There are ways in this country for those in the know. Give the state department 600K and tell me what that gets you? Not schooling.

Almost the entire north is that way. At least in Jersey the gas is cheap. NY you have all the taxes and expensive gas.

NJ is very expensive to live and it's not just due to high state income taxes, you also have huge property taxes in all the different counties, and all the other kinds of taxes, fees .....  This also applies to all the other high tax states.

Tepper moving out is another example of what the "let's keep raising taxes and let's tax the rich more" miss AND that is the people with lots of money, the truly very wealth eventually will and can easily afford to pick up and move elsewhere ... It is then the average middle class even higher middle class who do not have the kind of freedom, ability to pick up and go that always end up paying the bill.

Raising taxes is Governments lazy way of solving anything and usually ends up hurting the people so many claim they want to help.
