A Decade of Ron Rivera

This squad has been a team since '95.

We've had:

1. Dom Capers

2. George Seifert

3. John Fox

4. Ron Rivera

Out of these 23-ish years, we will have had Rivera for 9 of them (maybe 10) with as much to show for it as Fox.

This needs to be over.  We are wasting away.  What the hell are we even waiting for anymore?

Capers=defense, Seifert=Walsh finisher, Fox=defense, Rivera=defense

We are perpetually focused on defense and suck on defense.  Weird season and weird coaching.  This team still hasn't figured out their identity.

My primary point: We have a new owner and have had absolutely dull coaches who were guys "due" HC gigs.  It's time to hire ahead of the curve.  I see a lot of Tepper support but the guy has basically been playing it cool and safe, with cushy marketing and community stuff.  A lot are claiming they love him already and think he's all with it, but I'm saying: let's wait and see.

Saxy out.

i'm still baffled at the george seifert hiring. everyone knew he was a bill walsh understudy and dumbass richardson gave him a shot b/c he so happened to win a superbowl with the niners

i'll still never forget the 98 season though contending with the packers for that final wildcard spot in a point differential tiebreaker. we whooped the poo out of the saints but unfortunately the packers whooped the poo out of the cardinals clinching that final playoff spot by the thinnest of margins.

i'll also never forget beating the vikings with chris weinke at the helm in 2001 starting the season 1-0 only to lose the next 15. lolll. if we think this 5 game losing streak is bad, imagine that year (although expectations were a lot lower)

fug man. i still can't believe we're on the brink of missing the playoffs. this poo fuging sucks

but damn if that 1-15 team didn't play their butts off.  didn't we have leads in the 4th in 8 or 9 of those games?  i liked that team better than i like this one.  they had a lot of heart and more to be proud of to me than our current team

Lol it was 1999 and the packers didn’t end up making the playoffs either. Fun time but it wound up being all for naught

    • Ironic that out of all of the multiple players listed, you zeroed in on Bryce Young and only Bryce Young. No mention of Derrick Brown or Jaycee Horn... Hell, we can even add Icky to the mix but sure... let's laser-focus on Bryce. That's a hell of a mirror for you to run into. 👀 I'm not sure what "wisdom" you think you're imparting to the front office beyond the idea that the being Panthers means that they're destined to suck forever. That doesn't exactly sound like wisdom as much as it sounds like the same relentless doompilling you've been committed to. But sure, let's pretend it's "rational" to condemn a pick after limited rookie action and an injury setback (and that anything less than full-blown pessimism is bootlicking). That's certainly the lighthouse we all need in the storm that you insist is eternal... at least until you and only you, decide it's not. Unlike you, I'm not asking anyone to leave. I'll just keep showing up with facts and context. You're more than welcome to keep showing up with doom and gloom.
    • So you don’t think with his weight down /position more similar to what it was in 2023 he’s capable of 10+sacks? I don’t watch college football so just going off the write ups, like getting the opinions from folks who do
    • I'm excited for Scourton. Even if the sack numbers aren't there right away, he'll contribute and has a certain floor IMO. Would be thrilled if he can turn into a Charles Johnson-type contributor one day. Never a star (though, please do), but reliable and damn good at what he does.
