let Cam heal for 2 years like luck?

Should they just let him have surgery and take the time to get him 100% like Luck has? Take the opportunity to draft a QB and give him the experience to run the offense for 2 years, and let the chips fall where they may?

He would be 31 by then and they would have to resign him or he walks. Quite a problem with a lot of uncertainty.....opinions please

I wish they'd put him under the knife tomorrow, by 3/20 could be 3 months recovery and possibly allow him to throw in April/May time frame.

the team lacks that foresight. if he gets surgery it'll be in like may/june and they will panic to try to force him to be ready by preseason.

I would love for them to just tell him to get surgery and not start him till his 100 percent again.

But like you mentioned there are serious complications. Cams contract only goes through 2020 and the team could cut him after 2019 and save a boatload of cap space.

Also,  sitting out next year would make him 31 by the time he gets back.  Not old in general QB years,  but considering the amount of physical punishments cam has absorbed over the years,  thats getting up there in age for him.

And Cam probably would continue to force himself to start even when not at full health. I could see it rubbing him the wrong way if hes not allowed to play next season and Cam requests a trade or release or something

There is no evidence surgery would fix it. In fact, Cam said doctors told him there is no magic surgery for this. See his full press conference.

he should get an opinion outside of our crack medical staff

I’m 100% sure he has. There are many private practices around Charlotte that are official “team doctors”. My wife used to work for one. Players go to these guys all the time. They don’t just stick to the one doc the panthers employ full time.

Letting him properly heal more than 6-8 months is a good start.

Look last year he had the full offseason, but really needed to get reps in, as his casts of characters included

A rookie

2 FA he's never thrown to before

And. Year 2 guy that as well have been a rookie with the injuries year 1.

Alot of QB to WR play has to do with timing.  So he had to get plenty of reps this sunner and practices with these guys.  Niw he wont be so rushed to.   Plus willl have an additional month to rest it

    • Number 9  Carolina Panthers  Bryce Young, the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, produced career highs in completion percentage (63.6%), passing yards per game (188.2) and passing touchdowns (23) in 2025. However, those numbers aren't exactly stellar by NFL quarterbacking standards. Even though the Panthers backdoored their way into the postseason in 2025 as NFC South champions with an 8-9 record, Young's performance was up-and-down. He threw for the third-fewest passing yards by a quarterback to make the playoffs in the last 20 seasons, per CBS Sports Research.  FEWEST PASSING YARDS BY QB TO REACH PLAYOFFS, LAST 20 SEASONS (MIN. 16 STARTS) PASSING YARDS PLAYOFF WINS 2012 Christian Ponder (MIN) 2,935 0 2008 Joe Flacco (BAL) 2,971 2 2025 Bryce Young (CAR) 3,011 0 2006 Steve McNair (BAL) 3,050 0 2019 Josh Allen (BUF) 3,089 0 Young did deliver some high highs, like when he threw for a franchise-record 448 yards passing in a Week 11 overtime win at the Atlanta Falcons and when he went toe-to-toe with Stafford in the playoffs in a 34-31 defeat.  Kenny Pickett couldn't win the Cleveland Browns' quarterback competition a year ago, and Will Grier is a career backup.
