The best lineman in Panthers history

Mr. Scot

and uh, gross didn't convince the team to pay his retarded brother 50 million $ to protect our franchise qb's blind side.   ryan is also responsible for what he did, and what happened to cam  because of it, not in my book.  *** that guy.

Id give it to Kalil but its close

Gross was here 11 seasons, 3x probowl, 1x 1st team all-pro

Kalil has been here 12,  5x probowler, 2× first team all-pro, 1x 2nd team all-pro

Think some people have Gross ahead now becsus they are living in the moment.  And seeing how we havnt truly replaced Gross.

More to do with the position they played on the line imo. And because of that, Gross gets the edge

Both were among the best Panthers ever and it's like choosing between your two kids as to which is more important to you.

Gross was incredibly durable and played the most important position, but Ryan was more involved with protection calls on a much more wildly fluctuating group of linemen. Both have been great team mates, too.

How do you choose?

Yea no offense but LT is a much much harder position to play, going up against the best Dlineman in the game. The fact Larsen stepped in last year and actually played better statistically than Ryan should tell you that.

We have yet to replace Gross or see anyone even close.

Center is just as imortant

Just ask Manning about Jeff Saturday

Remember he was a HUGE part in paving the holes for the smash and dash duo

Gross.

I appreciate what Kalil has done but, let's be honest, Center isn't a very glorified position.

true, LT is definitely the more glorified position and tougher position IMO.

BUT I think Kalil was better at his job than Gross was at his.  That alone doesn't give Kalil the edge because LT usuaslly means you are on an island vs the best pass rushers in the game.  BUT Kalil has a bigger load in Carolina than most centers.  Cam's admission of what Kalil does IMO gives him the bump over Gross.  Kalil makes all the line/protection calls.  Not the QB.  So big picture I give Kalil the edge.  But it is so close I have no issue no matter how the ranking goes.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
