To answer your question directly -- I am!

Smart, well spoken, calm, accomplished, a gamer....hopefully the kid makes the most of his opportunity.

Curt Warner was 28 when he broke into the league and became a Super Bowl winning QB and league MVP...

...dream big Heinicke!

Why is smart italicized and underlined?

I am excited to see a QB who can get a ball deep to Samuel and use Funchess on deeper routes across the middle. It will also give us a chance to see how much of the system relies on Cam versus a competent game manager. Over the past few games in particular defense stacked the box and crowded the line. Hopefully this will allow the offense to roll like it did when Cam was fully healthy.

As others have mentioned, let's see what Heinicke can do these next two games.  If he takes care of the ball and can effectively move the offense down the field we may have found a good backup for Cam worth keeping and developing.  That would allow the Panthers to focus on other areas of need come draft time.  If things go badly, the need to find a legitimate QB in the draft or free agency takes on greater importance.

Bottom line:  I feel better knowing Cam isn't doing any further damage to his body and can start the healing process.

As much as I hate the  present Panther's situation [Cam hurting, 99.9% out of the playoffs, etc], Heinicke is starting with zero pressure. Win or lose makes no difference. All he needs to do is play well, not like the GOAT. I hope he plays well provided he gets protection that QB hasn't gotten since Williams went down. [How much better would this season have gone with Williams on the right & Moton on the left?] As always IMO

    • I don't think it's a homer though when I really feel this team can beat anyone.  The points that can be scored in bunches when the big three are on has high potential.  Moose has effort for days and IMO is the heart of the team.  And didn't see Miles becoming the team "vet" in the starting lineup just roleplaying lol.   We have to limit the turnovers though (Brandon Miller I'm looking at you bud, you are a bad ball handler) and some little things.   Colby off the bench is a cheat code and him and Kaulk have a nice little game going with the picks.    Sion playing every game and just getting better each game.  He has grit.  Grant and Green also grit.  We need replace Tillman with PJ Hall though.  Tillman looks like someone that shouldn't be on an NBA court, or at least with this team, he's just too slow for this tempo.   Even McNeely looked decent tonight and can drive.   If Kaulk and Moose could even be like 30% 3pt shooters man....
    • 1.) LaMelo 2.) Kon 3.} Miller 4.. Giannis 5.) Moose   1.) Coby 2.) ? 3.) Sion 4.) Miles Bridges 5.) Kalk That squad would win multiple chips.
