I dunno... I wouldnt be surprised if he lets Marty run the draft and then replaces him shortly thereafter.  That would be the completion of a full cycle for the scouting dept.

It's not unusual for scouting and personnel departments to get cleaned out right after the draft.

GMs tend to get fired at season's end, but anything's possible.

So you are officially taking back all your accusations of him being a child molestor?  (among other things, NAMBLA, etc)

i never accused him of anything.  i made a statement as delusional as yours, for your benefit.  i hope you saw that he said he doesn't know the football side, and didn't work on the football side, at all, in pitt, and that he is no football expert.  just like i said.

and yes i will leave him out of it, but not you.  people are saying you're in nambla.   really fine people.  they call me just to tell me about you.

Those who think that Tepper is going act rashly or clean sweep the coaching staff or the FO are in a rude awakening. You must have missed the part about taking a long term approach and doing what is best for long term success. That usually involves consistency and not making radical changes. While he was largely positive about Rivera and Hurney in public, who knows what he said in his all day meetings. He said things like we aren't going to, for example spend lots of draft capital on one player, if it hurts our future success. Or that he was going to stick with Cam even if it takes longer to heal than they hope for. He is playing the long game which is what money managers do. He has been here one year not 8 like Rivera. Regardless of the past, if Rivera and Hurney have success this year expect them to be around for a while.

Tune in next season folks for another episode of 'As the Stomach Turns' where you will see the Carolina Panthers stumble and bumble their way to another mediocre finish to what was promised to be a magical season.

Once more into the abyss we plunge my fellow fans.  Rest assured that Hurney has the situation firmly in hand.

Lord help us.

I want a new GM and coaching staff like everyone does,..but what kind of dumbass would he be if he just bought the team last summer and cleaned house before the season?

If he cleaned it all on Black Monday?

Again, everyone would say, DAMN, that’s a man, he’s not taking any poo, wants to win, bla bla bla.

then replaces said staff with who?

pretty much every single coaching candidate that came up was either a prior loser or someone without the Sean McVae excitement.

we would be stuck with a bigger turd than we have now.

everyone burns the stadium down.

you never make decisions based on the court of opinion— it’s amazing how fast people turn,.. and it’s even worst now with the faceless electronic courage given to everyone.

Tepper will wait until good options present. For now he’s pressing this staff to do better.

The main thing I took from this video is Ron Rivera's Kohl's clearance rack draft day vests.

Yep,  but no one should expect anything more.  This team lacks talent in too many pistons to be great.   It’s gonna take several years to build it back.

That's be said after nearly every season that Hurney has been in charge of this team.

Jesus, he reeeeaaaaaly likes Marty Hurney.

He comes in, Marty drafts a top WR, a damn good CB, A starting level TE in the fourth, and some decent LBs late.  If Gaulden somehow finds a place, that is a solid draft.  Tepper did not see the meltdown.

In addition, Marty signed Reid and Tepper backed the move.  Marty signed 2 dumpster OTs and they were serviceable  Jarius Wright was a nice signing.

If you look at this year alone, there is no reason to fire Hurney.  Rivera, however, made mistakes that Tepper referenced--not firing the coaches soon enough, poor clock management, etc.

    • I’m keeping an eye on what the Hawks do with Boye Mafe. There’s a few young talented players that needs to be retained and one of their defensive starters might not fit within the budget. My guess is probably Riq Woolen is voted off the island but Mafe could be potentially too. His stats aren’t eye popping, but in McDonald’s defense, his role is to leverage for the DL to clean up. Mafe’s QB pressure rate is top notch and in a different scheme, he could clean up.    Just something to watch this weekend when SEA is in town.
    • Ok fair to judge only his starts.  But you do acknowledge that going from "he's waaaay above league average in a number of categories" to "here's a single stat where he's above league average (not "waaaay") and another where he is exactly at the league average" is a pretty significant backpedal, no?  I'm guessing he's probably in the ~10th range for completion percentage too if we're only looking at starts (I'm too lazy to isolate his starts and do the calculations), so I'll grant you that one too.  But I don't think completion percentage is all that meaningful as a standalone stat if it isn't bolstered by good TD%, Y/A, etc. On that note, for how much people like posting Passing Charts in here (*cough* CRA) - if you peep Shough's passing charts, he hasn't completed a single 20+ yard pass in the past 3 games combined.  His last one was in Week 13 against the Dolphins, which was a single pass of 24 yards.  I just want to be consistent in how we apply our standards - I think it's always been warranted to criticize Bryce for it (even dating back to his rookie season), but do we suddenly not care about that with Shough? And yeah I did acknowledge that Saints' fans have reason to be excited about him and complimented his poise, which is giving my props.  Still not sure I agree that he looks better than a "ton" of QBs nor do I think you or anyone have really demonstrated that.  I think you are generally one of the more reasonable level-headed posters which is why I'm confused at what I consider to be rather hyperbolic language about Shough.
    • I don't disagree with you, but want to point out that Tremble's strong suit has always been blocking. Case and point: on Horn's 25 yard run, he lays down not 1 but 2 nice blocks...and is looking for #3! https://www.panthers.com/video/jimmy-horn-jr-s-25-yard-run-gives-panthers-red-zone-access-on-first-drive
