Here is the most recent mock from PFF

Brian Burns again

Not saying that is who I would pick but some people/sites seem really high on him.

Other interesting notes:

Has Baker as the first CB.  Still has Greedy in top 10.  Murphy, CB out of Washington at 10.  Personally I would consider any of the 3 at 16 depending on who else is there.

He has Devin White falling all the way to 20, would surprise me.

Thompson(S) in the top 15.  I really don't think the Clemson game is going to drop him out of the first.

Has Burns, Polite, and Ximones as the edge players in the last half of the first.  No Sweat, Allen, or Ferguson in the first.

Way too early to put too much stock in all of these mocks, but what else do we have to do.

This pick would terrify me. Undersized pass rushers out of FSU have a pretty terrible track record in the NFL and undersized pass rushers drafted by Hurney also have a terrible track record in the NFL.

The only way I'd want to seriously consider Burns is if Rivera is willing to mix up his defensive looks and actually incorporate a 4-3/3-4 hybrid defense like we were promised when he was initially hired. If we're still going to run a D based on 4-3 concepts, Burns just isn't a scheme fit.

Really interested in seeing Burns at the combine.  It’s easy to see his weight and say he doesn’t  fit us but not ready to completely write him off yet.  Long frame and good speed.  Appears to have some nice pass rush skills.  Definitely someone to watch...Polite as well.

It's not like Hurney was stupid enough to draft Everette Brown...checks records...poo!

Total agreement.  The weird thing is the second Wilks and McDermott got out of here, they installed defenses with the hybrid concept similar to what Chicago and San Diego are doing.

I do want to advise people to wait on just saying every guy who isn't 6'5 and 270+ should be avoided, the guys coming out are different breeds these days and we just need to identify who's going to be a stud in a 4-3.  That being said, an FSU edge rusher is red flag in itself.  Extreme caution here.

Rather have Jochai Polite over him if we are going to a 3-4.  Polite has great production analytics.  Not sure about Burns. Also like Polites tape better.

I would mind these guys.  That would mean we would be going to more hybrid stuff.  At least a new wrinkle.  Running a 4-3 with a successful record makes it difficult to backfill that DE position.  The 3-4 OLB seem to be all over that damn boards last couple of years.

Hell backfilleg the DE position even with our up and down track record has been tough.

If Ferrell is somehow, miraculously, available at 16 the Huddle should collectively start sprinting to Nashville to cross out whoever tf Hurney is about to draft and put in the card for ferrell

I’d did a fan speak draft last night when he was still available at 16.  But that was from the Draftek guys board.  I think those guys must be living under a flipping rock with those. rankings.

Does PFF know we dont run a 3-4?

I used to be on the 4-3 only bandwagon but I wouldn't mind the switch now. If there is no switch, we dont need this guy.

I would guess they do, just like Kiper does.

I haven't really watched the guy but I'm guessing they think the has the frame to carry 250-260 easily.

Combine will be very interesting for these guys.  We'll get some true numbers.

I know its just a highlight video but if you really think he can carry 255 I can see why some people are really high on him.

    • I consider last year Bryce's rookie year.....and I expect some regression/D adjustment in his second season in Canales' O.  Film is film.   So yeah, I agree....he won't be the dude that opened up the year week 1 or closed the door week 17.  We will get some dude in between it all most likely.  Which IMO puts us in a really awkward no man's land with Bryce.
    • The question is which Bryce shows up game 1. Do we get week 2 (2024) Bryce, or week 18 (2024) Bryce?  I will say that his progression after the benching last year was amazing. He literally got better every game - sans Dallas. Like every week he did something we hadn't seen him do before. And it wasn't luck, toss it up for grabs plays like Penix did against Carolina. Penix was just throwing the ball as hard as he could in the direction of a receiver and hoping they'd make a play for him. What we saw from Bryce was different. Decision making, reading defenses, recognizing blitzes and where they were coming from, knowing his hot, avoiding pressure and manipulating the pocket, throwing with anticipation, taking shots downfield, and running the ball surprisingly well. Stats don't always tell the story. Did he miss some throws that he should have made - sure did. But the clutch gene is strong with this one. One score game and Carolina has the ball with 2 minutes on the clock - I'm confident he'll give them a chance to win more than he doesn't.
    • I really like David Moore. He's a reliable WR. Smart, doesn't drop the ball and he's where he's supposed to be. Now, he ain't gonna route up a DB. He ain't gonna 50/50 ball a DB. He ain't gonna run by a DB either. But he runs a good enough route and catches the ball - definitely an NFL average WR. Every team could use a David Moore. Now if this receiving group can force Dan and Dave to let him go, then this team has come a long way since 2023. A LONG way. But I will say that Horn's speed is a big deal. They don't really have another guy with speed and quickness to blow the top off the defense and make guys miss in space after the catch, though he is still a rookie and hasn't done it in the NFL. If he and Renfrow push Moore out, then we might actually have something gents. Plus I see Renfrow as Thielen's replacement in 2026. I just don't think Coker is the reliable, move the chains guy like Thielen. Could be wrong.
