I'm not hating the guy, just saying he is a strong possibility to be cut. There's 3 guys (kalil, poe and cockrell) that will have more money as a designated post june 1st cuts than Captain and two of them will be released, otherwise it won't make any sense they didn't used captain as a post june 1st cut.

if you think the team cuts him and his 15m in dead cap. That's a pretty sizable dead cap hit even split over two. Otherwise he'll be here and make 32m over 3 seasons. 

 

Butker was never gonna be the kicker here with Rivera as coach. Relies on the kicking game to much to put it on a rookie.

Another reason Captain wasn't a post June 1st cut is because of how post June 1st cut money can be used. It does nothing to affect the cap during free agency and can only be used to sign players in the summer or sign draft picks.

If the Panthers are planning on re-signing Williams or any other free agents then releasing Captain outright was the right call.

he was so god damn bad the last two years. we should have never let him go to minny and moved on after that contract, instead we got the poo end of his career, like always.

We're going to carry a lot of dead cap this coming year but nothing as bad as the Hurney aftermath of the Delhomme/CJ/whoeever else I'm forgetting re-signing spree.  

TD's contract is gone, this frees a tad, chip away at the bits and release the abomination that is the other Kalil.

A poor GM move doesn't justify giving a guy poo for giving what he had left. This board has way too much of: "oh,  that guy's gone?  Good. He sucked"
