Looks like we've only met with tackles at the combine so far...

If you look through full list the list it appears the OL dominate all the combine meetings at this point. Then there are a few TE and running backs. Have to assume it is just the way the meetings are scheduled and not indicative of anything else.

I've heard some draft guys claim that this class of OTs is one of the best in years.  Lots of good quality RTs and several who have LT traits that could develop into future LTs.

Might be a good idea to look at those guys.

Or it could also be an indication that Daryl Williams won’t be back and this new tackle will come in and play behind Kalil until it’s week 12 and Kalil has been charged with the murder of Cam Newton.

I swear to god if we don’t put Moton at LT..

Thanks for sharing.    If  the postings on this board are accurate  and Williams was "hidden" with Dickson helping him block a lot, then the Panthers know he is a liability.  That said, he will not get a competitive offer from the Panthers, except maybe as a G--which won't happen.

Good news?  Moton played RT well.  He is cheaper, at least for a year.  So the money you save by not re-signing Williams and going with Moton is substantial--about $7m or so for 2019.

Kalil would be a post June 1 cut, so there is no reason to make a decision on him right now.  He is an insurance  policy--but the interest in T is understandable.  If they can upgrade LT in the draft, they can then cut Kalil.

I make a list of 7 or 8  OTs in the draft's first three rounds who I feel could outplay Kalil at LT.  I also consider signing a vet to a 1 year deal.

So what I am saying is this:

We have $17m in cap room right now.

  1. Do not re-sign Williams.  Moton is the RT.
  2. In free agency, sign a C and a FS with all of the cap room (knowing you can cut T. Smith and Thompson and create $14m if necessary.)
  3. Draft a LT, sign a vet free agent.
  4. Use the money saved by cutting Kalil post june 1 for Rookie contracts.
  5. In the draft, take DE,  OT  early.
