Have you grown numb to our lack participation in free agency

Year after year the same thing, year after year panthers fans with rose colored glasses will tell us how you don’t win a SB in March. Yet after all those years we still haven’t won squat, we still haven’t even had back to back winning seasons.

It's frustrating, because you want to see your F.O. out there making deals, which I get it - the big bucks may not translate to wins, however there is the sense that visible measures are being taken to improve a team that has tons of weaknesses.  Not doing anything, or talking about any FA goals, gives off the vibe that the team is satisfied with where it is.  And I know changes are being planned, personnel wise through draft and FA, but on the outside, it looks like we're just content to sit back and watch our competition get the A players.  Sucks.

It’s frustrating never having any cap room to become players in free agency. But what I find even more frustrating is that we don’t even show interest in players we can afford. I never see the Panthers name connected to anyone.

Ahhhh who would miss the days of us signing key free agents like

Justin Hartwig

DJ Hackett

Ken Lucas

Tyler Brayton

Olindo Mare

Louis Murphy

Hakruki Nakamura

Ted Ginn Jr

Joe Webb

Thomas Decoud

Michael Oher

Roman Harper

Mike Tolbert

Kurt Coleman

When Tolbert, Coleman, Harper, Oher and Ginn are your best FA the last 12 years you know you gotta get really excited for FA /s

Much more so than free agency, I've become numb to us making really poor roster decisions in regards to players currently in the roster.

It seems like the big "winners" in free agency often don't translate to big winners on the field. Always gotta remember, every player that is available in free agency was allowed to get there by their former team. Their former team, the team that knew them the best, ultimately decided that they weren't worth the contract that they were going to command.

    • I'd hold on to Walker - we have no OT depth at all. Freeling is a block of clay - all the tools are there and he appears to have a great attitude. He needs serious work on his technique to realise his potential though.
    • From my watch last night: They weren't trading out of 19 unless it was a daft offer once Freeling got there. They were clearly antsy to get Hunter - and Minnesota actually called to offer the trade down. They weren't trading out of the third round pick once Brazzell fell to it (and Canales would have been happy with him in the second round). They traded back a lot on Day 3 - even if Morgan 'Babe Ruth'd' it with Lee, Hecht and Wheatley; they clearly weren't the only guys they would have taken at those picks. I'm curious to know which player caused the reaction at the start of day 2 (Dan Morgan): "of course they'd pick him"
    • Watching this confirms that this staff and front office is super high on Monroe Freeling. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gotta a real chance to win the starting LT job in camp. If he does, we can look to flip Rasheed Walker to a contender desperate for tackle help.   As for Ickey I still really like him and wanna extend him but based on how the staff was talking about Freeling it might be time for ickey to start taking some practice sets at guard if he wants to stay here as we are gonna have to have figure out a solution for the contracts of Lewis and Hunt.  My preferred scenario for the Oline in 2027 is Freeling-Ickey-Hech-Lewis-Moton.
