Panthers plan a Cowboys like facility

Turns out Tepper wants to go big here, way more than just practice fields and headquarters. He's looking for something similar to what the Cowboys built.

Panthers have big plans for complex

“There’s a misunderstanding that we are building a little practice facility,” Mark Hart, the Panthers’ vice president for development, told The State. “But our new headquarters is just a portion of the project we want to build. . . . (New Panthers’ owner David Tepper) is thinking big.”

I assumed he was thinking of building something like the Star in Frisco. It's a really nice place. Costed 1.5b dollars though and Frisco paid 300m for it to be built. It's 12k seat stadium and a lacrosse team plays in it.

City payed for the Ford center stadium and parking..ext some restaurants and shopping plus cowboys fit gym and such also there.

I love the Panthers, and I think developments like this are great for business, but I wish our city leaders, and city leaders nationwide, would stop giving these teams such crazy concessions.

Arlington gets 5m from the cowboys each season plus what they pull in from additional events. They paid 300m on the 2.1b attached stadium.

Then they turned around and did the same deal for the new Rangers stadium.

Arlington don't care, it's all the city has.

Watch us build practice facility/soccer stadium

That's my thinking as well, 15,000 seat soccer stadium, restaurants, shops, hotels, practice facility, gym, player dorm, indoor field, outdoor field and offices and meeting rooms for Panthers. More hotels across the street. 1.6-2b dollars for investment. Panthers value goes up same amount since they own it.

When I filled out the survey about MLS at BOA, this is exactly what I put as an alternative possibility. Look at what the Braves have done with the Battery. No need to make it just a sports venue, it should be it's own little city with shops, hotels, condos ect. Get use out of the area all year round.

Spartanburg must be hating this news.

I know people don’t like the Wofford/JR connections but camp has been great there for a long time and I don’t think it should be moved. Pretty clear that it will be but I’m not thrilled about it either.

    • Got to talk to Tiny Lister once back when I worked for AT&T.  He was a nice guy.
    • The team signed undrafted rookie JJ Weaver from Kentucky. The 25-year-old Weaver played six seasons in college (with injury waivers), and had 21.5 sacks. He was a three-time team captain for the Wildcats. To make room for him on the roster, the Panthers released outside linebacker Amare Barno. Barno, a sixth-round pick in 2022, tore his ACL late in the 2023 season and began last year on the physically unable to perform list. He had 3.0 sacks in three seasons, appearing in 29 games. Sad to see. He seemed to have a lot of potential when he was drafted. Injuries really derailed him though.
    • Ok so how does this make sense for Blake?  Honestly I like it for us.  I’m really high on Blake’s future like I’m sure the Canes FO is.  If he continues along the path he’s on, we’ll have a top 6 forward on a KK contract.
