Gave the Panthers a D

Hated the Little pick claiming he is soft

Likes Burns but claims the Panthers are not going to use him right.  And Burns is best fit in a role like Anthony Barr

Claimed Grier was a mega reach. Ryan Finley/Jarrett Stidham were better QBs and still on the board

Well that settles it, if McShay hates Grier he’s a sure fire HOF’er.

McShay’s QB Top 10 QB Grades (Since 2008)

1. Luck - 99

2. Ryan - 98

3. Winston - 97

4. Bradford - 97

5. Griffin III - 97

6. Sanchez - 96

7. Stafford - 95

8. Gabbert - 95

9. Tannehill - 94

10. Darnold - 94

Where are Newton, Watson, Mahomes, Goff, Wentz, and Trubisky you might ask... just getting ready for the playoffs year after year.

He's the first person I've seen that gave us a grade that low.

I hope Burns (and defensive coaching staff), Little, and Grier hear/see these comments and prove this guy wrong. You have to be self motivated to have success at the NFL level, but it doesn't hurt to have a little chip on the shoulder to push you to greater success. He pretty much insulted everyone I just mentioned earlier.

I would have loved to have a strong prospect at FS picked in the early rounds. Outside of that, I can't gripe too much. And, we can still pick one up on FA market. The other weak areas (pass rush, OLine depth/Possible starter at  LT, and a solid backup for Cam) were at least addressed. We don't know things will pan out but I don't see how anyone could grade us below a C...and even that's too low in my opinion.

Would give our draft a B+/A-. Team needed young pass rushers to groom. Solidify the offensive line. Back up RB that can wear down a defense. Back up QB. Free Safety.

Panthers addressed 4 of their 5 needs. Regardless of whether you liked Greg Little as a prospect, the Panthers had a first round grade on him. That doesnt mean that Little will become an all-pro. However, they feel like they got a 1st round talent in the 2nd round.

To be fair, when one of his key points isn't even the person drafted but looking into the future to see how the Panthers will use a player that hasn't been on the roster long enough to put on pads....

Listened to this and the biggest thing I disagree with him is that he wants us to use Burns like the Vikings use Barr. I couldn't disagree more. The vikings are wasting Barr's talents playing him at OLB when he is much more suited as an edge rusher in a 3-4.

Pass rushing is so much more important than having a LB who occasionally rushes and covers a lot.

He would be right about Burns if we were keeping our same defensive scheme. I don't think Burns would be a good fit as a base 4-3 DE, but all indications seem to be pointing toward a pretty significant scheme shift.

With as often as these talking heads are flat out wrong, you'd think that they'd learn to stop talking about draft prospects in absolutes. There are top 10 busts and late round steals on every draft and every draft would look A LOT different if it could be redone a few years later.

We have no idea if he’s wrong or right. Our coaches have put players in bad Positions for years. Or not recognized who should play.

And what happens if this season goes bad and we hire a strict 4-3 HC? Burns(and Miller) would be much less valuable in that scheme.

  I’m glad we took Burns.

How is McShay any less qualified than the other “grades” people have raved about? It’s not. But anything said against the team, right or wrong is unacceptable.

    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
    • Yeah your right the owner was copping hand shandies while all this was going down
    • I mean not surprised the Patriots took him in and aren't trying to push him out. They've been the most morally bankrupt team in the NFL for a long while. Wouldn't be surprised if Vrabel has his own dirt on Kraft/Brady and other assholes from that organization over the last couple decades.
