That is true. Clausen was terrible. If the other team got a 7 point lead there was no way we were coming back. It was incredibly depressing. Honestly it was worse to me than the 1-15 season.

easily worse than the 1-15 season.  We actually competed in many of those games.   Like you said, the moment the scoreboard showed even a one point lead the game was over w/ Jimmy at QB

I still say 2010 was far better. First of all, we won one more game. Second, I’ll take losing by a comfortable margin over a last-second loss any day.

I guarantee you wouldn’t want to relive the last-second loss to the Saints. Or the overtime loss to the Redskins when we had a 7-point lead and Weinke threw a game-tying pick-six. Or the Bills game when we jumped out to like a 20-0 lead at halftime and lost 21-20 or whatever.

In 2010, we had only two losses that to me really stung: at the Saints, when if DeAngelo doesn’t run backwards and knock us out of FG range, we win with a FG; and at the Browns, when Kasey missed a chip-shot FG to win after Clausen, incredibly, drove us like 75 yards in the final minute.

2001 team would have beat the poop out of the 2010 team.

and yeah, I'd much rather watch a team compete and lose in close games repeatedly than just watch my team become an utter joke.

Of course people inside the building want to see Grier win the QB2 spot. They invested a great deal on that pick, and nobody’s really sure at this point if that was a good idea. We probably won’t know for a while.

However, coaches who conduct minute-by-minute granular evaluations of every element of each player’s positional technique, situational awareness, leadership, toughness, and live-fire results......these coaches care very little what the backup quarterback’s last name is. Or if he was drafted. Or if he’s tall, short, black or white.

Ah yes, Pickles.

IIRC (there I go again), his go-to play was a can't miss heave to the cheerleaders on 3rd and 18.

Those were the dark days for a Panther fan.

It's sad that we can't be happy with a competent backup because of those few who are here that are just dying for Cam to make a mistake so they can hype up their guy.

Those few...there's like one and not even one I can find. Just one because 0 is probably impossible.

But hey how can we prove doubters and haters and Cam vs. the world wrong if reality is there aren't any? What would Cam ever play for then?!

Yeah, no.  On one hand you say they invested a lot next you say they don’t care.  Which is it Einstein

You know what, I’ll gladly take a semantic slap on the wrist for this one.

Generally speaking, when referring to people “in the building”, this was inclusive of scouting and personnel executives working under and in-concert with the general manager on personnel-specific priorities.

I chose to not lump the head coach or his coaching /conditioning staff into that same proverbial box. Because after the draft ends, these branches of football operations  departments disperse to zone in on their particular niche roles, under which additional layers of specialization continue to emerge.

You probably had no way of knowing this was what I meant. Or maybe you just disagree with everything I say. It’s fine. Cheers.

Caption:  Hello, Patriots?  Lemme get this straight--we get Armanti Edwards for next year's second rounder?  DONE!

*Sigh* How long are you gonna hold on to that crap? He's done a really good job since coming back. He said he learned a lot...that's impossible without making mistakes. Maybe be glad that he learned? Jeez.
