Paradis schmaradis?

This isn't really a reactionary thread as much as a "I've been keeping an eye on this guy" type of thread.

I got a chance to rewatch the past couple of games. Paradis seems like he's struggling a bit. I don't know if it is the scheme, the talent he is up against, chemistry, or whatever. It just looks like he's losing a lot of battles. This worries me because he's going to be going up against some really elite interior linemen this season.

I don't recall any false starts by him but the line as a whole has not looked good. Chalk it up to preseason, maybe the aforementioned chemistry.  Maybe the line will start geling later one but it is a concern because of Cam. It's the same old subject. Protect Cam, Keep him upright.

Lets not even go into the depth issue either...

I think we should hold judgement until we are in the reg season

Ehhhh.....third preseason game...he was getting his poo pushed in...I don't know man. 3rd game in the preseason it's usually when you can pass a bit of judgment.

The other side of the coin and to further make my point. Burns is going to be a problem, for other teams. I'm not holding on to judgment there either.

Well the dude has had a ton of days off, might just need more time.

I think the OL as a whole is going to get it together.

I agree. The Oline has had very little work, especially together. I'm going to give it a little bit. He was really good in Denver. He's the last of my worries

He is learning a new playbook---you all forget that he is calling the schemes, he has a different qb cadence each few series, and there are audibles etc.  In other words, it takes a bit of time to transition to C, and this offense asked Ryan K to do more than other teams.

Yes, Bennett got by him a lot--he is quick and hard to block.  When Pardis gets comfortable, he will do better.

He's returning from an injury and learning a new playbook while playing with an entirely new offense and QB in the most important position on the offensive line.

Most of the huddle agreed that under the circumstances of our previous center abruptly going on an emotional retirement tour that Paradis was the best case scenario given our limited options. It was that, Larsen, or a rookie. If ya'll want to blame anyone, start with Ryan. But he's suiting up for the Jets now. Cha ching.

Also, this preseason is "new" for us.  Usually our starters go into the third preseason game with more snaps under their belts.  Typically a series in the first game, a couple series to a quarter in the second and then a half and a series in the third quarter in the third game.  Our starters are basically "ready" to play the third preseason game NOW, but won't.

I will say its hard to replace a member of the O-Line and keep on banging.  Now it amplifies when its the Center/Captain/All-timer.  Paradis is attempting this while also coming off injury.

He's being paid well to do it, but to expect no hiccups in the transition from RK to whoever, is a bit unrealistic.

    • I knew very little about this player before we drafted him. When I read scouting reports about him I understood the pick and thought it made sense as a late round receiver with speed and special teams ability but after watching him more closely and now adding his interviews into the equation I'm actually really excited about him. I know it's just RMC but I noticed him running his routes with this extra step that really stood out to me during the general video posted earlier without realizing who it was doing that.  His speed in his first cut is just on another level and it's visible. When I saw it I was **** whoa, who was that?! Then I saw Horn JR. and my first thought was oh it's him. I think it's very possible that he was under appreciated going into the draft due to his height and stats because he played at Colorado where the attention was on 2 other players but I think this dude's ceiling is way higher than most think it is. Especially after watching his interview. He looks hungry. I may have found my fav rook for this year's pre-season. I like pulling for underdogs anyway and as someone who played on the small side myself it just gives me more reason to cheer for him. The competition at WR looks like it's going to be fierce this season. I honestly can remember any preseason where I looked at out wr group and got past 3 players who I thought were interesting but this season I'm interested in at least 5 who have my attention going into the season.
    • Wilson should be getting called for at least 3 penalties a night even in the post season. How does he not lead the NHL in PM???
