Gano could possibly go to IR per Rodrigue

The Panthers signed long snapper Andrew DePaola to take Vaeao’s place on the roster. DePaola will fill in for snapper J.J. Jansen on Thursday night.

Jansen has an injury to his left hand.

DePaola is a veteran who has played for three different teams since 2014, most recently with the Raiders. He played the 2018 season opener before a season-ending knee injury.

Carolina also reached injury settlements with guard Norman Price and linebacker Jonathan Celestin, who both were on injured reserve.

Been saying that for weeks.  I think that is definitely the right move. If he isn’t healthy now with an jury from December I have little faith he would last the year.  And right now we have a viable backup.  If we try to put Slye on the PS someone would grab him.

Lets just hope that Slye doesn’t go out and shank 3 tomorrow.  Lol.

Agreed...but more concerned about Slye when the real games begin

That’s why an 8 game tryout works perfectly. If he truly bombs that badly, we can bring someone in after 3-4 games until Gano is eligible. If he’s mediocre then ride it out until Gano comes back. If he’s good then trade Gano. Someone will need a kicker at that point and Gano is a good kicker.

I am as well. Gano seems to have a lot of injuries for a kicker, which is also concerning and he is making a lot of money. With all that being said we definitely need him this year at this point and can look at other options next year when his dead cap will be about 3 million

    • AT got what he deserved. Be gone and enjoy those 4 catches and the bench and your pay cut
    • we have been bad offensively basically every game Rico Dowdle hasn't gone full Tecmo Bowl Bo Jackson on folks.
    • Strongly disagree with the premise here. Without getting too into it, the biggest gripe for many has always been his footwork and pocket presence.  Shallow drops, happy feet, bad awareness - his overall technique is highly unconventional and not beneficial to his size/frame.  His upper body gets mad out of sync with his lower, drops back parallel to the LOS, erratic behavior. When you take that to the NFL level, you get swallowed up. And he got shellshocked and started bailing way too soon on plays. Unnecessary throwaways when he should step UP into the pocket and hit.   He got away with it in school because sooo much of his work was out of structure or quick hits to Jamo.  He was able to not bail early and stick in the pocket this last game. He also was dropping deeper than he usually does to create sight lanes. He can’t really outrun DLs so he needs to create that space via drop to survey properly. When he does these bs skip hops in the gun, he barely drops and is flooded. He needs to stay active with his feet but learn to step into the pocket more.  His average arm when he’s not doing this right turns Pennington esque.
