Practice Squad is set

I pretty much knew when they cut Godwin he was done for good. If the plan was to have him start at PR, you don’t cut him the week before the season just to play practice squad roulette over it. That’s a vital position.

Hey, who knows. Maybe they’ll bring Godwin back at some point. He’s clearly not part of their plans right now.

I’m not that upset about Godwin, he was basically a UDFA where he was drafted and while he showed a little bit he wasn’t all that great. But still a little curious that he couldn’t even make the PS. Thought he showed enough potential for the future to be a no brainer PS addition. Although if you’re only putting one wideout there I have no problems with White ahead of him. I think White did outplay him.

Think he is gone for good with the Ray Ray signing.  When you look at depth we have Wright, Hogan, McCloud, and Zylstra that can play slot.  It’s why I think they like White on the PS for the X and Y depth piece. Maybe he’s replaced for someone else but it probably won’t be Godwin.  I liked the kid but I think McCloud May have a little more upside.

Glad we got Hemingway back. I'd like to see him get a shot at TE3 or even 2 next year.

I agree. I’m glad you brought him up. He looked good at camp. I like how he performed in the preseason. The game didn’t look too big for him. He’s been around. Drafted by the Rams in 2016. Battled an injury. Relatively local kid: SC State product. Had a good combine. He’s long. He can make plays down the field. Haven’t seen enough out of his blocking game yet. I suspect that part of his game will need some continued development. But yeah, he’s definitely somebody who could make an impact in this offense at some point.

Perhaps they see White as a more viable option in the receiving game. He came along quietly in camp. Made a few good snags.

Godwin had one really good game. And a pretty good camp. I’ll go back to the Chicago game, again: he shined, but so did Ross. Jeanpiere even had a 20+ yard return that was called back.

I think maybe it was a bit of a case of Chicago’s coverage unit performing poorly. (They allowed 11yds a return the next week, with a long of 20)

    • did a great job getting us out of cap hell. also did nothing to make the team better once we had a roster good enough to compete for a super bowl for a hawwwg mawlie enthusiast using first round picks on shaq and vernon butler which were luxury picks while strutting out the likes of nate chandler, byron bell, matt kalil, mike remmers to protect your franchise QB was malpractice. and then of course the norman fiasco and drafting kelvin benjamin over davante adams, jarvis landry and allen robinson and doubling down on devin funchess the next year. for a guy that "came from scouting" it was crazy how he drafted 2 tall unpolished receivers simply because Cam "threw high" I remember him and Rivera thinking Byron Bell would be a better left tackle than right tackle because he was left handed lol
    • Beane took over in 2018 after Josh Allen was drafted. He's drafted 2 Pro Bowlers his entire tenure. James Cook and Dawson Knox The Bills had a generational QB fall into their lap and have wasted his prime much like we did with Cam. Alot of parallels and it's even funnier when they've had so many of our former players and built their front office around our old employees
