How long has Little been in the protocol now? Must have been a fairly significant concussion.

Since the Pats game. I’ve also noticed that we keep the guys in the protocol longer than pretty much every other team on average. Whoever the independent neurologist is seems to be much more cautious than other teams.

Honestly, I like to hear this.

As much as I’d selfishly like to see the guys get cleared and return as quickly as possible, it is definitely a positive that they are very cautious with returns from concussions.

It’s been way too long to be minor. Not a real good sign. If he gets out of it this week before the game then I’d chalk it up to being extra cautious we don’t want another Oher situation. If he’s inactive week 1, that’s not good at all.

As of tomorrow, it will be two weeks. That doesn't seem all that long, at least in comparison to others.  I don't have specific numbers but it seems most of them last 2-4 weeks.

NFL players who suffered concussions last season spent an average of 16 days off the field, a significant increase from previous years, according to new injury data from 2012.

7 years ago, it was 16 days, probably longer now.

I know this.  I would fee better about Sunday if Irvin would be suiting up.  Not that I don’t feel great about BB long term.  But how is he against the run so far? With Irvin out our could see a heavy dose of Gurley being run right at Burns.

And wtf fug is up with Little.  Hurneys ass is tied to that kid.  And he is still on the protocol.  If he’s in tomorrow still he won’t be available as a backaip this weekend.

While I was lambasted this offseason, I still think the best call was for Moton at LTWilliams at LG and Cody Ford at RT.

On the positive side it’s still better than how we came out of last preseason.  And it’s an odd year.

Yep, sad situation. But at least we seem to have learned lessons from it. I think that specific situation is a big part of the reason why were so conservative with our concussion management.

Yep, him and Luke.

Like Dr. @Leeroy Jenkins Ph.D. said above, I'm perfectly fine with letting these dudes get 100% healthy from a concussion before coming back. I don' twant what happened to Junior Seau to happen to anyone of our players.

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
