Is Allen a legit starting qb

The line that opened up huge holes all day long with two starters out? Allen has a rough day and has had so many fumbles I lost count. I am thrilled that he has helped us win games, but we need Cam if we are going to compete this year.

run blocking and pass blocking are different.  they def opened some nice holes

Hard to tell what he is.

OL has some legit issues in pass protection which impacts play calling.  We have seen that regardless of who is QB.  His fumbling is beyond worrisome.  He makes Dante Culpepper look good.

He missed some important throws too. That is the definition of inaccurate

you know, cam has that issue also. 4 games ka has a better completion %.  in fact today, which you said defines innacurate, is just about equal to cams career completion percentage wise.   i'm not arguing who's better, but its obvious you're hating because you're offended at the cam criticisms

we would have a better idea with a better line.   cam would have gotten killed behind that line today.  he holds the ball waiting for better options.   anyone wanting cam coming in behind this line, the way he plays, is nuts

Cam just needs to understand why, and how to take a sack. Not every single play has to be a td. If he could learn to be more of a game manager and rely on his young studs around he will be fine.  But oline does need need help, if they can fix that we are golden.

Can u  people who say hes 4-0 go look at Kapernicks record as a starter and say hes a good qb because he won games 2? honestly wins and losses are a team statistic.. your giving allen credit for this win like he was slanging dimes out there. hes a backup.. managed the game.. and did that perfectly.

I think if he were playing behind a line like they have in Dallas, we wouldn't even be asking this question.

There is still the matter of longevity though. Gotta see how long he keeps it up.

what i like about kyle is if his first option is open he's throwing immediately, and there doesn't have to be a lot of separation, and its catchable.     he bailed a couple times today when i thought he should climb, but he didn't lose us the game behind a bad pass blocking situation

Kyle Allen is a back up.  Right now.  Does he have potential?  Sure.

But first he needs to learn how to not fumble the ball if someone stares at him too intently.7 fumbles in 3 games is unacceptable for your QB.  I don't care if he is "technically a rookie".  Because the conversation isn't "is he playing well for a rookie".  This conversation carries an implication of "do you start him over Cam when he returns".

Right now?  No.

CMC and the Defense has to ball out to compensate for Allen's numerous mistakes.

I posted this in Olsen thread but probably more fitting here.  Greg Cosell was talking on WFNZ this week why he thought our passing would suffer this week.  Because Olsen was blocking.

I listen to Greg Cosell break down film all the time.  His concern this week was going to be the Panthers passing game.  Because he felt our gameplan would be to have him blocking with the moves along the OL.
He predicted the passing struggles because anytime you do that you have less routes and it makes it exponentially easier on the defense.  The Safties really only have 2 or 3 guys to cover instead of 4-5.  I forget exactly but he gave some cool stats on it.  He said it’s ok to max protect occasionally.  But if that is your gameplan you better be able to run the ball because the QB will have nowhere to throw.

Its  another reason guys are piling on Allen.  Though not a good day he really didn’t have very many windows to throw to.  Cosell called that on Wednesday this week.
