Most inconsistent player on the Panther D

Saying he looks like Charles Godfrey is pretty much the same as saying he's inconsistent.

I'd add you could probably say the same thing about Donte Jackson.

I think the defensive backfield is inconsistent as a whole, and I'm not putting it all on Reid. Besides Cockrell, he's probably more of the most consistent ones.

I'm not sure what the point is in singling out individual players after a game like we had against the 49ers. More often than not Reid has come through for his team. He isn't the only one that has looked that way in this defense at times when they have struggled as a unit. Even Luke Kuechly has looked mediocre on occasion this season. Doesn't mean he sucks. It's been an uphill battle this year with the run defense. That's been the biggest hurdle.

I would say Shaq is. One minute he's making awesome plays next he's getting washed up or blowing a coverage on a TE. He's very boom or bust.

Him and Boston both... Not exactly what you want from the “safeties.” The position is called that for a reason.

 

That being said, we’ve had much worse at safety before and these two can at least make big game changing plays.

Bradberry has been as consistent as any corner in the league this year. Guy is a beast. But you’re right on the rest, both safeties and Donte have been very inconsistent.

I can't help but wonder if this is more due to our style of play.  Sometimes we seem to be a high risk defense, going after the big play than just making the stop.

You know what good is it to be a aggressive defense when you go into a shell after a few TDs. It's the worst of both types of defense. Like defense gets a pick while we are up, go into a shell. Offense gets two TDs, go into a shell. Down by 14 super aggressive defense and Offense. Allow huge gains and throw picks.

I would say Shaq, but Reid is inconsistent for sure. The positives outweigh the negatives though, still the best safety we’ve had since the Hitman.

Not sure why you’re getting poo’d on for this. Reid is the definition of inconsistent. I don’t know why but he has some of the worst tackling form I’ve ever seen from a strong safety. One play he will actually wrap up and the next he’ll just do this awkward half-shoulder lunge and look foolish.

Boston is right there with him too. It’s either big play or wiff.
