In a league whose rules are designed to encourage teams to be fast and to throw the ball and to score a lot, Ron Rivera wants to be slow, run the ball, and play defense.

This might be counter-intuitive genius, but I think Rivera’s track record screams otherwise... its stubbornness and stupidity.

Is there a GM in the NFL who wants to hire a guy that seems to still be stuck in the 80’s? People think he gets another job pretty fast.

Can you imagine when we took Armanti and Brown?

Good lord the other GM's had to be cackling.

Hall, Butler, Funchess, Ealy, Silatolu,....and on and on.

The last decade of the Panthers is littered with some laughable picks. I think Samuel ends up in that pile eventually.

Well, there's one that worked with him before.

Rivera is also pretty well liked back in Chicago from his playing days.

He will because John Fox did too. It will take another stop or two before people figure out that his "success" at Carolina was largely having some elite talent and one of the most unique offensive weapons in the NFL.

A lot of those sacks came from their NASCAR package. Nickel coverage, five Db’s, and usually three speed rushers with one DT. The 34 front, with 59/54 stacked, has been a disaster against 21/22/12/13 personnel v the run.

And it would still be a disaster against the 00 personnel vs the run. I know that personnel requires dime, but I bet we would just move 54 over to cover a WR, we do it all the time.

I feel fairly certain there are probably several stories of our draft choice announcements leading to puzzled reactions in other war rooms.

I'd probably rather not know just how many.

I found myself watching draft day and longing for the drafting prowess of a fictional Browns team. I think I may need help.

John Fox got TWO jobs after finishing 10-22 over his final two seasons in Carolina.

What I always found really weird about Fox is that he made it to his third job without ever technically being fired from his first two.

Both the Panthers and the Broncos just let his contract expire.

Well, it worked out pretty well for him, didnt it?  Chicago might have been somewhat of a swing and a miss, but he did win a Super Bowl in Denver.

No he didn't.

Gary Kubiak was the coach when the Broncos won. Fox's team was the one that got embarrassed by the Seahawks.
