Panthers "doing homework" on David Shaw

Checkbook, yeah.  Prestige, no.

The Cowboys are still considered the most prestigious coaching job in the NFL (which is amazing, given that you have to deal with Jerry Jones).

Oklahoma to Texas is also significantly less of a move than Oklahoma to Charlotte.

There are pros and cons both ways.

Alot of coaches don't want to coach the cowboys because they don't want to deal with Jerry and Stephen Jones. And the rest of the cowboy family.

I don't mind college coaches if they have some previous NFL experience ala Pete Carroll or Tom Coughlin.

Pete Carroll has previous NFL experience all the way to the top of the coaching tree, then college before success.

Tom Coughlin... well he’s pretty disgraced after this stint in Jacksonville.

Yeah, honestly if I was a coach with other offers that would weigh heavily on my decision. I'm sure every owner is a PITA to deal with to a certain degree, but having your owner acting as the GM?

I was at Stanford for a meeting with some professors there in early November, 2015.  I decided to go for a walk and skip a nerd meeting one afternoon and I walked toward the athletic facilities.  I saw CMC--he looked 12--loading his gear on a bus, along with other players.  There was a coach standing there, supervising a rather routine process--no other coaches.  It was Shaw.  I approached him, shook his hand--he was as humble and friendly as one can be.  He told me that they were on their way to the airport to play Colorado.  I mentioned CMC and he started smiling, "That kid is special."  I then told him that there were rumors swirling about him taking the Panther job (when we hired RR) and he did not respond, fwiw.

I am telling you--he is a class act.  We could do worse, and I am not sure we can do much better.

David Shaw would be an excellent hire.

If we hired Shaw, this fan base would get pumped.

How good can you be at Stanford?  They are a good program in a weak conference; but if he seeks titles, it simply ain't happening there.

But he had years of success prior to that including a couple of Superbowl wins as well as a successful prior stint at jacksonville.

Go Southside-Baltimore...

1. Lincoln Riley (HC) Realign our entire Offensive Philosophy and Personality

2. Jalen Hurts (Oklahoma/QB) Athletic and a winner.

3. Jordan Love (Utah State/QB) Athletic and Size

4. Khalil Tate (Arizona/QB) Speed and Arm Strength

5. Jonathan Taylor (Wisconsin/RB) Power and Speed give CMC supporting cast that CAN play RB

6. Laviska Shenault Jr. (Colorado/WR) Size/Routes and Hard to Tackle

7. Brandon Scherff (FA-Washington/OG)

8. Anthony Castonzo (FA-Indianapolis/OT)

9. Dante Fowler Jr. (FA-LA-Rams/LB)

10. Myles Jack (FA-Jacksonville/LB)

11. Kendall Fuller (FA-Kansas City/CB)

12.  Traes Wayne (FA-Minnesota/CB)

Play Fast and Protect the Ball in 2020-2024...

(There may be plenty of detractors from the above wish-list and it may be too late on several of those FA's, but following the "traditionalists NFL Coaching pedigree and nepotism" have de-railed Cam's career and potentially CMC's if they do not embrace so new blood that puts defense's on their heels. Put some speed on the field around Luke and Shaq, find a coach to coach Burns (he did show multiple glimpses of athletic talent). Do not return Kickoffs (How many fumbles on Kick returns did we have this year?).

Merry Christmas and no hard feelings taken by anyone's opinions, the only opinion that matters is that we all would like to see a different approach by the organization to put a well-prepared football product on the field that is not a cookie-cutter NFL team. We are Charlotte, and we have a special place here in North Carolina that is a great place to live and work. Merry Christmas

to the Tepper Family!

Interestingly enough there is an Adam Schefter Podcast within the last week where the words that came out of his mouth sounded exactly like what Tepper said he wanted in a coach!  Very interesting to say the least!!

Unfortunately think he is a lock to the Giants if they offer him.

He wants the NY job.
