It might not be particularly reasonable to jettison all those guys. We'd probably be looking at the worst defense that this franchise has ever fielded and far, far, far worse than this year.

Do we need another bad, bad season?  Doubtful we u turn this thing next year.

Yeah, whatever will we do if we lose JAGs off of one of the worst defenses in the league?

2020 Free agents from the team site (link)

EDGE Mario Addison
S Tre Boston
CB James Bradberry
DT Vernon Butler
CB Ross Cockrell
CB Javien Elliott

WR Chris Hogan
DE Wes Horton
EDGE Bruce Irvin
DT Kyle Love
DT Gerald McCoy
NT Stacy McGee

G Greg Van Roten
G Daryl Williams

*DT Dontari Poe and WR Jarius Wright have team options that can be picked up before the 2020 league year begins. If the options are not picked up, they become unrestricted free agents.

Other than Bradberry, Addison, and Cockrell, I could care less. And none of those are top 10 in their position, just better than average. An argument could be made that McCoy played injured for a lot of the season, but my statement stands.

It’s very possible. This team got the injury bug bad and we still had a stretch where we looked like a wild card team. There’s some big holes that need to be addressed but if the new coach wanted to make one last push with this core before blowing it up he could field a pretty good team

Well, it depends on what the goal is, I suppose. If we want a surefire shot at the number one pick, letting 100% of that group go is a damn good way of doing it. I can understand maybe some of the emotional mindset of "fug 'em all" but there are some real things to actually consider from this group you want to jettison. Here are some....

Secondary

63.3% of the games started lost.

57.1% of all tackles lost.

70.2% of all pass defenses lost.

75.0% of all interceptions lost.

Remaining roster: Eric Reid, Donte Jackson, Colin Jones, Natrell Jamerson, Corn Elder

Defensive Line/Edge

75.7% of the games started lost.

63.9% of all tackles lost.

61.7% of all TFL lost.

67.8% of all sacks lost.

62.5% of all QB Hits lost.

85.7% of all forced fumbles lost.

33.3% of all fumble recoveries lost.

Remaining roster: Brian Burns, Dontari Poe, Marquis Haynes, Kawaan Short, Christian Miller

I agree. There seems to be a major gap between what he thinks he's worth and what NFL teams think he's worth. I fully expect him to test the market and then sign a marginal short term deal late into the process... again. That's been the story of Tre Boston's free agency every time it's come up. I just hope and pray that Marty doesn't Marty.

Unless Marty goes to the skins..... then Hurn, Baby, Hurn!
