You don't recall the Super Bowl season?

The Panthers had one of the best offenses in the league, scoring prolifically. Cam would have the Panthers up by 20 at half, and the defense would crumble, especially as they went into prevent Ron Rivera pussyball mode. Then Cam would come in and finish the job.

Wow.

Lots of people have revisionist history when Cam is the subject of conversation. It shows their true agenda.

Yes the Panthers defense was undoubtedly very opportunistic in 2015. But do you honestly think we make it to the Super Bowl with just any QB behind center witn Ted Ginn as the #1? You remember how many passes he dropped that year? Also btw, you're high fiving someone that has been banned several dozen times so good look there.

That’s what a 100m QB get paid to do. To make average guys look better than they are. Omfg

Agreed. While I do believe it was time for him to go, Ron had both success and failure in his time here.  And he gets to much blame for the failure and not enough credit for the success.

The defense was all Sean McDermott not Ron Rivera.

If you went by his original press conference here, so did we.

Yep. I reluctantly bought it, but I bought it. He said all the right things you'd want to hear from a supposed aggressive defensive minded coach.

The way I remember that season, Cam did not have many good first halves.  The D kept us in games and he would put together a drive or two at the end and close the deal---not sure if I am mixing years or not, and too busy to research it.

I remember that early in the season, the offense struggled, while the D made enough big plays for us to win.  (Josh Norman in particular had a pick 6 against the Jags, and a game saving int against the aints).  I think it was about the fourth or fifth game that the offense caught fire (during or after the Tampa game maybe).

Then it seemed we went thru a stretch of games where both the offense and defense would play lights out in the first half and then slack in the second half, but do just enough to win.  Green Bay and the Giants come to mind.

Regarding Cam, the thing I remember most about him during that season was that he was Mr. Clutch during end game situations.  Drove us down the field for game winning scores in several games (Seattle, NYG, Saints, Colts, etc).  That to me was what made him MVP that year.

Been reported that Washington will run a 4-3

They’re getting the best 4-3 DE coming out a absolute beast no way you can pull that 3-4 hybrid poo. This is a pretty straight forward situation based off personnel when you think about it.

Good HC? I beg to differ. All I remember is him having 1 good season riding Cam Newton to the Super Bowl. After that is was nothing but a lackluster performance every season.

Washington DC sports radio had a few Charlotte guys on the other day. One of them was Mick Mixon.

Who said a lot of Cam's success was because of Rivera and chud College footballing or dumbing down (he didn't use those words) the playbook and installing a bunch of Auburns plays.  So they used a bunch of verbiage and plays that Cam was familiar with instead of normal NFL verbiage for playcalls.

Most coaches wouldn't normally go to those lengths. Thought it was interesting,  knew about the Auburn plays but not the verbiage part.

This isn’t factual. Chud made Cam learn the verbiage and not be allowed to wear a play sheet on his wrist. Forced him to memorize and not rely on the play sheet. Auburn plays is just a big duh. Do what cam does well especially coming in one year of top college ball into the nfl and starting.

mick mixon is also an idiot so that’s not surprising.
