This ain't your daddy's Panthers

Some constants over all or most of the Panthers 25 year existence:

- Defensive head coaches since day one
- Head coaches with NFL pedigrees (college coaches need not apply)
- An NFL logo in the middle of the field rather than a team logo
- Ryan Vermillion, head trainer for the past eighteen seasons
- Rob Rogers, with the Panthers since 1995, served the past ten seasons as their top contract negotiator and salary cap manager
- Of course, Jerry Richardson (still with us in statue if not in person, or in spirit, or well...anything)
- And lastly, a player or coach with the last name "Mills"

None of those things  are true anymore.

Further departures, like that of executives, scouting staff and even GM Marty Hurney (in place for the majority of the team's history) are possible.

By the time they field again this September, the team on the field and the organization as a whole will be set to look significantly different from what we've known and found familiar.

Might be better. Might be worse.

Definitely gonna be different.

“Different” is the operative word here

Very different.

The coaching staff turnover is par for the course. But we're also parting ways with a trainer, a cap manager, quite possibly a whole scouting department and more.

Even Gettleman didn't really change things all that much inside the organization, but Tepper sure as hell is.

Let's hope we don't get our daddy's results either.

Amen to that.

I’m pretty hyped to finally see Cam with a offensive head coach.

He hasn't been much of an offensive mind, to be fair. People are getting their hopes up. In year 7 as a college head coach he cracked the top 50 in scoring in the country. On the flip side, he was regularly a top 50 defense, and in 4 of the 7 years he was top 20 defense out of 120+ schools. Defense and special teams have been what won him games in college so far.

For the first time in years, decades even, I don’t know what to expect going into next season.

I think anyone that says they do is lying. Will certainly be interesting times ahead!

I'm not about to claim that.

It really does look like a new horizon, a new beginning, a new suit or whatever other metaphor you wanna throw out there.

I’m not opposed. The last three seasons have been like watching the same movie over and over every Sunday. Honestly, the last 18 seasons with the exception of a few blips of excellence and and exciting number 1 pick/player (who arguably was misused to accommodate Fox/Rivera-ball)
