Like when he came to Texas and hired Texas people to help him recruit and build the program, Rhule is getting advice from Coughlin on his staff build. People may not like Coughlin's approach to players, but he knows how to build a program and will definitely help Rhule make smart choices in that area. Interested to see how it plays out and if Coughlin ends up here in some capacity or is just an outside friend helping.

Assistant GM perhaps?  Coughlin knows football and how to build teams.  He's very old school as a coach and seen as abrasive.  I'd like him in a front office position though.  Maybe he could be the Yin to Marty's Yang.  Help the blind squirrel find a nut past round one.

As long as he doesn’t become part of the staff, it’s a good move.

Depends on the role.

He could stay on as an advisor to Rhule even if he wasn't on the official coaching staff.

As long as Coughlin stays away from players, this is good.

As a coach or as an evaluator?

Coughlin was a decent talent evaluator during his first run in Jacksonville. They had some nice drafts

    • Ha ha. Are you saying that in response to the whole team, or just the Panthers? LOL  I was ninth, so I was stuck between C-Mac and someone lesser, and I really should've picked a receiver when I picked Chuba. But, YOLO. If CMC gets hurt, I hope that this San Fran writer was correct in his assertion that Guerendo is simply the better, more explosive backup. I know they signed Brian Robinson, but I think he's JAG more than anything else. Guerendo has a bit of an injury history himself, but he is 220 with legit 4.3 speed. I must admit that I took my chances with the receivers. I actually traded Chubb and Mixon for T-Mac. I'm hoping that Ollie Gordon learns the top spot in Miami and that Dont'e Thornton becomes the top dawg in Vegas. If that happens, I'll be great. Between Pearsall, Thornton, Golden, Coleman and X, someone has to break out. I also have Christian Watson in an IR slot (though I want to put something together to acquire Rashee Rice).
    • Thanks for sharing. This is fascinating stuff. I know some of us were hesitant with him due to his limited play within structure in college and the need to constantly relying on hero ball. But his lack of ownership and lack of work ethic is staggering.
    • We had 3 chances to hire harbaugh and 2 different owners passed.   We deserve every bit of misery that comes our way.  We always zig left when we should zig right.  We have had owners that thought they could outsmart the system
