If he was making 7.5 at Baylor, then the NFL is grossly underpaying their head coaches.  Im fine with the money and length of contract, especially when he was competing with Baylor and not another NFL team.

It's easy to pay a coach 7.5 mill when you don't have to pay the players anything.

Quite frankly I was surprised that the Giants admitted that they were not willing to match our offer.  They obviously failed to do their due diligence to understand the costs that would be involved to hire him.  Did Dave think that Rhule would consider a salary/term reduction for the pleasure of working with him?

That was all nonsense imo. The Giants were embarrassed that they didn’t even get a chance to interview their guy after parading his name all over the news papers.

To save face they had to play the “Carolina overpaid and we didn’t really want him anyway” card

lmao kerry collins was held to a high standard at PSU

he was a notorious alcoholic wreck who's drunken escapades were hidden by the coaching staff and local police.

also the coaches weren't held to a very high standard, as we all know. cough

I agree - Fug Joe Paterno

Just gonna say I think it’s BS to say Rivera was a 9-5 coach and didn’t think about football at home. For years we read about the coaches and players being in on days off and working to get back to winning. Just because a fan thinks watching Monday Night Football is part of their weekly football schedule doesn’t mean it’s part of anyone else’s who works in football, nor does it matter. To extrapolate someone into a 9-5 coach and to talk about what their habit was with only a reference to not watching MNF is asinine.

You don’t have to tear down Rivera to cheer for Rhule. All that talk about being the best 7-9 team sounds like a selling point out of Rhule’s mouth but when the 2014 Panthers did exactly that everyone wants to disown them.

Excited to see the energy Rhule brings and what the process looks like this time.

It's also why a bunch of cheap owners don't like what he did. Now they will have to come more out of pocket to get good coaches.

Kinda reminds me of the Cold War escalation with the USSR. Tepper has the money to outspend every other NFL owner, and with that, he has a lot of leverage and pressure he can apply, just as we did to win that ‘conflict’. This is good for us as Panthers fans.

the cold war was completely fabricated.      our govt is pretty awesome at pulling the wool over our eyes.  unfortunately it was another money grab.  one of thousands.   cia papers that got declassified have proved this beyond doubt.
