PFF: Tre Boston will cost 3 YRS – $8M AVG/YR

We picked up both of our safeties holding cardboard signs.  They can ask for market value.

For Boston to be worth that, he would have to be a more complete safety.  $5m per is about right, imo.  Marty however, knows that he is being watched.  If he overpays, it does not matter how good his eye is for spotting talent.

Before Hurney was brought back he was on the radio talking about the FS spot. Listening to it, you'd think Boston was an All-Pro the way he was hyping him up. I figured he was just talking up the guy because he drafted him but then I was reminded that Gettleman picked Boston.

That said, whenever Marty was brought back, I KNEW it was just a matter of time before Boston was back in Carolina.

If Hurney has anything to do with it, I can assure you Boston will be back.

Interesting. What I still don't get though is apparently as much as Hurney likes Boston, even he didn't sign him to anything but a piddly one year deal. I think there's a pretty strong consensus on Marty's tendency to overspend in FA, so that just reinforces how weird it is that no one seems willing to pay Boston for anything but barely starter worthy one year deals.

That price? Peace.
Terrible angles at ball carriers. Terrible tackling. He is very very good at jumping routes in front of him - exactly like in the GIF. Almost every pick of his where he actually making a play comes from that exact read and reaction. He is adequate otherwise at pass defense.

what’s really going to happen is that he will test free agency, not get anywhere near that offer, then come back here for much less.

Okay so if I understand you correctly, basically he's building some semi impressive stats off being a one trick pony and is awful at other things, and PFF doesn't seem to be picking up on this. That makes more sense. Thanks for the insight.

Well watching him in run support shows very clearly that he isn’t very good. Watching him in the pass game shows that he is adequate, as I said, and excels at  making plays that are in front of him.

Per Huddle tradition, we get to pick and choose when we listen to what PFF has to say.

I don’t get the math on the contract when there has been no demand for Tre in years past and recent history has shown that safeties not named Landon Collins aren’t getting big or long contracts.

    • Tepper makes the wrong decision in literally every case. It's laughable at this point. It is as hard as getting every single decision right. Give me one example of one thing he's got correct in 8 fuging years. It's no surprise that promoting the assistant GM that worked for the worst GM that I've ever seen was a mistake. This goes all the way back to insisting that Ron run a 3-4 and the defense goes to complete poo and we suck. That decision in my opinion cost us 3 or 4 more seasons of the greatest middle linebacker to ever do it.
    • Currently Cam and Bryce have the exact same career completion percentage at 59.9. The differences in their play/career arcs are immense, however.
    • LOL we have been talking about fixing Bryce Youngs footwork for almost 3 years now.if his footwork has shown little to no improvement in that amount of time then you might have to come to the realization while at the same time using a little common sense it's not natural to Bryce Young with his small stature/ size to step up in the pocket plant his feet & drive the ball from the back leg to the front leg while remaining stable.no instead you see BY becoming easily overly excited & then as a result starts alot of unessary scrambling & hopping around & maybe it's not necassirly he is scared all the time & it has more to do with his height & he is trying to find the right angles for visual purposes whatever it is he  puts himself in a position where he cannot stay balanced when he throws the ball & anytime you throw the ball unbalanced it not only effects your power but it also effects your accuracy/ timing point being the real problem with Bryce Youngs bad footwork is his small size ...just saying
