Agreed.  Many fans here have some awfully short memories.

WE CAN'T TANK.

Yea, last time netted us our franchise QB and our only league MVP.  It may not work again, but what we are doing now clearly doesn't work.

It’s laughable that people don’t want a bad record in a great year to need a QB, especially given our history. After our worst years, we had 1 or 2 mediocre years followed by 5-6 year periods where we made the playoffs 7 out of 11 years. Two different coaching staffs as well. We’ve done the rebuild twice and made a Super Bowl and multiple playoff runs each time. Cam and Luke weren’t there the first time and Delhomme, Smith and Peppers weren’t there the second time. We can do another SB run with different players. It’s time to grow up and put the blankey in the closet and remember Cam and Luke and Greg fondly while we embark on another run.

Yup.

Honestly, it's past time, this should have been kicked off as soon as Tepper took over, but damn, look at the push back he's getting now....wonder how bad the fanbase would have turned if he did all this as a first year owner?  I was prepared then, and am more than prepared now.

We keep Cam, if he’s healthy we are good, if he’s done we draft a QB next season.

Would be dumb to move on from Cam without seeing what he can do with offensive geared coaching staff

What exactly does that mean to you?  "we are good"?

TD has always been one of my favorite Panthers. That being said, he was a guy who thought he was coming back to retire as a Panther after just one more season here. I don't think he's any more in the loop on Cam than he was in on his own future here.

Hope Cam stays, but the tea leaves are reading otherwise.

Other than the fact he was at the Hornets game with Rhule the other night, sure.

He’s the mayor of Charlotte. He’s got all the insight anyone could ask for.

the collective idiocy of this fan base in wanting to get rid of Cam for a has been veteran or a rookie QB like Trevor lawrence who could bust just like Joe burrow who could bust and just like Tua who could bust is absolutely insane. When cam returns to MVP form i can't wait for you idiots wanting him gone to eat the biggest piece of crow you can find. You people make me sick.

This board makes me want to lose my poo when it comes to Cam Newton

Browns have never had a franchise QB, and Mayfield is a huge question mark. Even if we let Cam go, if we got Lawrence next year we’re in business and will never be anywhere near a Browns like rebuild. It could look more like 2010-2012 Panthers, but not Browns-level bad just by getting rid of Cam.

The odds of us getting Lawrence next year, even if we suck this upcoming year, are slim.   At best, they are 1 in 5.  And even if we do get him, there is no guarantee he will be successful.  More of a hope than a guarantee.

If we actively tank for him, by trading away some of our pieces for future draft picks, and sticking with Allen/Grier at QB for this year, not re-sign guys like Bradberry, McCoy, Mario, and don’t spend much of our cap space, etc. we can absolutely get Lawrence. Also just look at Rhule’s records in his first year of being a HC with his different teams. If we let Cam go this year,  I completely expect us to be absolutely horrible, 1-2 wins, with the eyes set on sustained success in the future. That’s been Rhule’s MO, come in, tear it down a bit and start from scratch and build it up pretty quick after the first year or two.

    • And even worse you have injuries force you to play anther one dimensional train wreck combine that with Orlov being no were close to as advertised and boom you have 3 defensemen being dressed who couldn't defend my 96 year old grandmother. That said next year having Slavin,Miller,Nikishin,Chatfield gives you the best shutdown d man in the league two large athletic HIGH offensive potential D who can take away time and space....   The more I think about it the more I like this seasons approach, if you bring back burns or aquire anther large RHS with length you have 5 D all over 6'2 and 210 with three of them having great offense too, make no mistake they want size and skill on the blue line now and its almost 100% directed at getting past FL.
    • Honestly the 2024 draft class(minus brooks). All are in line to be starters, expect crumedy who's fighting for a 53.  Still that class was looking terrible, is now looking like 4 starters and maybe 1 depth. Anytime you draft 2 starters and a key depth piece its a good draft. 4 starters are rare and that's with brooks who could have made 5 starters if not for awful luck.  That draft also helped land starter Michael Jackson in a round about way, big bonus..
