What are the chances we make a splashy FA signing?

We have like $35mil before any potential cuts like Poe or Short. I don’t see us getting rid of Short but we could free up another what, $12mil cutting Poe?  I could see us getting one semi splashy or maybe splashy FA. Dunno if that’s how Rhule operates though. I could see us possibly going after Clowney (splashy) or JPP (semi splashy).  There’s a number of mid tier MLBs available too. Schobert, Ogletree, Bradham (I think). I definitely see us signing one of those (or an equivalent).

This.

I can see 2-3 solid mid-tier signings for guys that are still in or a bit before their prime.

Blake Martinez (26 y/o) ILB from GB could be an interesting one if he doesn't re-sign.

Don't want to over invest in the secondary but Karl Joseph could be super intriguing to help out the unit.

Clowney would be nice but no way we can outbid other teams.

I would like to go after Trent Williams and solidify out LT spot.

Those splashy FA picks really worked out for us last year... How about we take a hard pass?

Just because you dont win the lottery does that mean you stop playing? Sometimes you win some times you lose, just because it didn't work out doesn't mean it cant. Free agents can be busts just like draft picks. Thing is you need both to supplement and have a good football team.

    • My take on Darnold was always that he was fine with a good offensive line but would wilt under pressure with a poor line (Jets and Panthers). Seattle began the year w/ a pretty bad oline and they improved somewhat but Darnold is showing he is a pretty good qb. Imagine what the Panthers would be today with Darnold and without Bryce Young and all the wasted draft picks to get him.
    • Similar situation but that would be a better version than what we currently have. Sam isn't a franchise QB but he is a good bridge guy. Either Seatle finds a young guy to groom or they have hit their ceiling. They 100% can't put it on Sam's shoulders and expect to win but the team needs to carry less with him at QB to win vs what this team has to do with Bryce.
    • to me the post would suggest Sam Darnold was good last night because Seattle won in a wild game.   Which is what we do with Bryce Young.   Sam Darnold didn't play well last night.  Which is how he trends, goes to a new team.....looks okay and becomes classic Sam Darnold down the stretch.  Last 6 or 7 weeks old bad Sam is coming out a lot (and then a weird Atlanta game mixed in lol).
