Yep. If we move on from Cam and don’t use Grier to get us the top pick then we are doing it wrong. Tannehill or Dalton or Mariota or whoever isn't going to outscore our D. Either tank or don’t. Don’t half ass it.

Crazy speculation theory based on nothing but my own wild notion: What if the Panthers are expressing an interest in Tannehill in order to dissuade teams from the notion they are sticking with Cam thus causing people to fall asleep on us trading up as a possibility so that on draft day we can covertly swing a deal to move up with the Skins who will do crazy poo with no GM and Ron at the helm in order to let us draft Chase Young (admit it, you think this is where I’m gonna stop), which will then allow us to do a complex unprecedented sign and trade deal that nets us:

Kawhi Leonard.

Whether it be Tannehill or someone else, if the team went after another starting quality quarterback, I'd expect them to be slotted as backup / insurance in case Newton doesn't stay healthy.

It'd be interesting to see the terms of the contract, though.

Now this is very,very interesting. 

The always excellent Ian Rapoport from NFL Network reported that—for now—the Panthers are planning to move forward with Cam Newton.

That may end up being the case, but teams I speak to don't buy it. They believe the Panthers are going to pursue a QB in free agency, and the name I keep hearing is Ryan Tannehill.

The Panthers, goes the thinking around the league, are playing a nice game of poker and aren't close to settling on Newton.

This is ridiculous click bait. 

So, our coach.... the new one. The one that has spoken with Cam a few times and came out on interviews and essentially said he wants Cam.  But, some B/R writer puts this out there.... okay.

Look, I'm pro-Cam without a doubt and think this team could make some hay with a few lucky draft picks, FAs and some growth from internal players (Little, Elliott, Thomas).  However, IF we are going to bring in a FA QB, Tannehill is not the guy. Bridgewater is the only name that makes sense to me if we are going that route. Young enough, mobile, good decision maker and familiarity with what the Saints and Brady run. 

That latter part being said, I don't see how a 31-year old Cam @ $19M/year doesn't give you the best situation of the three options.
