also the panthers don’t save cap by holding onto him til June 1 idk where you got that from.

... you might be right there. I was listening to " The GM Shuffle" podcast with former NFL GM Mike Lombardi and he mentioned that..

I don’t blame them at all either knowing what I know BUT they completely mis handled the entire situation and it should’ve been done a lot earlier than you think

He was released the day after he "passed" his physical.

Reading between the lines, I think that's what they were waiting on.

Not so sure about that...

I don't blame the Panthers for choosing to move on from Newton. Nor do I think it's completely their fault that they couldn't get anything in return  (admittedly they probably could have handled it better).

The thing that I find most worthy of criticism is that they allowed Newton to believe they were going to keep him as a starter for the coming season. Then when the time came, they pulled the rug out from under him.

Matt Rhule was an active participant in that little exercise.

how did they do that?.  bus cook knew.  he asked to let cam's camp control the trade narrative.   nobody got the rug ripped out.  only thing is cam or bus didn't get to announce it.

That's the team's version of events, and there's probably at least some truth to it.

But as for Newton, the word from his camp long before this story came out was that he firmly believed the Panthers were committed to him for this season. Hence, why he was angry and had to be consoled when the news hit.

Seeing how things played out, it's pretty clear now that moving on from him was always the plan.

While you’re trying to read between lines I’m not. The FO screwed this up. It never should’ve have been dragged out

Never disagreed with that. I actually said several times they should have released him sooner and that it was a disservice to hang on to him as long as they did.

The timing relating to the physical is a possible explanation. Doesn't make it right.

Jeff Howe, and Mike Reiss said on NFL Network that the Patriots weren't going after any veteran quarterbacks.

Belichick rolling with Stidham wouldn't exactly be a huge shock. They were pretty happy with what they'd seen of him so far.

I’ve seen that guy attempt one pass in the NFL. A pick 6 against the Jets. They’ll still be good because of Belichick and Brady hasn’t been that great lately,  but I doubt Stidham is the answer for them. Glad they’re not going after Cam though, want him to go somewhere in the AFC I have no problem rooting for.

That’s good for you, but in the nfl breaking rules and regulations have severe consequences, not to mention there’s a microscope on the nfl like most major sports outlets, so a meeting taking place with cam when the nfl has suspended all nfl related activities is going to result in a black lash especially with sports shows already having limited topics

Interesting.  I mean we finalized TB today.

People keep whining that we didn’t get anything for Cam because Hurney screwed up.  No...we didn’t get anything because there isn’t a market for a QB who hasn’t won a game in nearly 2 seasons, and hasn’t been fully healthy for longer than that.

Cams been a free agent for Over 24 hours  and still not a peep as to a team being highly interested.  I love Cam...but this has nothing to do with Hurney or Rhule or Tepper.

And Cam was posturing for an extension (commitment).

Cam has never been a pocket passer. His QB play relies on his running. Without his running he is a mediocre QB. That is a fact.

Why should he stop running. So you can argue his passer rating on the internet? It doesn’t matter. Stop acting like you can’t see the total package of the player.

And let’s stop acting like he can’t play from the pocket. If he didn’t have to carry the running game the majority of his career he would have had more inflated stats. The dude plays to win.

I trust you understand the difference in finalizing tb and the potential in finalizing an agreement to sign cam to your club, just for starters I’m sure a team wants to have there dr’s evaluate cam and not just go off the physical he took in atl
