Round 4 Pick 113, Carolina Panthers select CB Troy Pride Jr

GOAT

Recommended Posts

STRENGTHS

—Two-year starter at outside cornerback who has good size (5'11", 193 lbs) and man-coverage skills.

—Checks all the boxes when it comes to height, length, speed and overall size.

—All-around athlete who excels in change-of-direction situations and has the long speed to run with receivers down the field.

—Has the size and quickness to come up to play the ball in a zone scheme; uses his length well to be a disruptor.

—Good read-and-react skills to diagnose the play and get involved in the passing game.

WEAKNESSES

—Awareness looks to be subpar given his struggles to stay with routes.

—Doesn't track the ball well and had limited production in college.

—Doesn't play with physicality at the catch point.

—Lets receivers run past him despite having the size and speed to run with the best of the best.

—Gives up so much space to receivers during the route.

OVERALL

Pride's athleticism gives him NFL-starter potential, but his awareness and instincts will prevent him from getting on the field right away. He has the physical traits to develop and could surprise and become an early-career starter, but he has to clean up his technique down the field to live up to his potential.

GRADE: 64

PRO COMPARISON: Kareem Jackson/D.J. Hayden

Kiper's only knock on him was that there were times he could've made a huge play or turnover and it just didn't happen.

Sounds like he has all the tools and is in the right place at the right time.

    • Nothing wrong with it at all until you start telling others they are bad fans or not fans. But you are.    I did many years of that type of uninformed fanning because there really was no info and coverage like there is with the internet.    I mean, I used to go to the store and get Street and Smith’s annual football issue. That was about the extent of what you could get if you didn’t live in a big city with sportswriters covering and reporting.  There was no video to look at or replay the games and if you didn’t live in the market you could only rarely see your football team play.    TI have fanned since being a kid in the early 1960s, and as late as 1995 - ‘97 I lived in Atlanta and good luck getting more than 3 or 4 games a year on TV. No radio either. No print coverage outside of an AP recap and box unless they played Atlanta.  People today that have always had the network connection don’t know.    I wasn’t very educated about the Panthers until I finally got internet.
    • oh now that's what you call Mother Fiuggure fans the ones that always have this fierce protective shield around the team no matter if they win or lose  & to be honest there is nothing really wrong with being a Mother Fiugguer fan they just have a different meaning or sense of what a true fan really is                                                 ☺️
    • I'd gamble, miles josh green and 2-3 firsts especially if we could trade both this years and 1 future
