Could it be dejavu all over again?

He won because he got one of the best draft values of all time.

The league letting Russell slip to the 3rd because he wasn't the right height pretty much gifted him lots of consistent winning and a SB.

Pete also had some damn good assistants under him.

I personally don’t want to win a game next season.  Great q1 class coming out next year and a top pick in every round would allow a lot if offensive talent to be added to this team.  Combine that with the defensive talent from this draft and a quick turnaround is possible.

Preaching to the choir. I keep seeing the I don’t want to tank comments yet they ignore that our two best years came off of having a top 1/2 pick and then a top 10 pick in the two years following a 1 win and a 2 win season. Those two awful years got us to the playoffs within 3 years and both had SB runs.

I just don’t know why we pissed away 3rd, 4th and 6th round comp picks in 2021 and why we are going to spend potentially $90M in cap space on 3 players who are bridges to the rebuild. Why not get the picks, shoot for the top QB and rollover that cap to sign the two best FAs in 2022/2023 while we are in the middle of the playoff run instead of before.

Boggles my mind, especially with what looks like a great draft. It sure seems like we could turn around the ship fast and potentially get one of the top QB prospects and be solid for years.

The powers in the NFC South are aging out fast, particularly at the powerhouse QB positions. You even have to figure in the Tom Brady addition to TB actually increased the average age of NFCS QBs...

We may be positioning ourselves to take great advantage of that. Two years from now, chances are excellent that both Brees and Brady will have retired and perhaps even Matt Ryan will be gone. We will be left with young DBs and safeties who were trained up against the best the league had to offer.

Yeah, your Legion of Boom reference may very well be on the mark before all is said and done. Hope you're right.

All about the QB in the end. The Packers were not a good team this year but Rodgers played well and the defense did enough to win games.

Patrick Mahomes would make the playoffs on this Panthers roster. Plenty of talent. Great QB's make a huge difference.

I'm really optimistic about this team now and going forward. Maybe I'm naive, but I expect we'll be a fair bit better than most are assuming from the next time the Panthers step on the field.

There will be growing pains, no doubt, but I feel like the ship is headed in the right direction. I'm expecting good things sooner rather than later. Maybe we'll have a bumpy year 1 under Rhule, but I think year 2 and beyond are going to be exciting.

We have a first round quarterback already as our starter. Let's see how he does before deciding a college prospect will be the second coming.

More importantly they better keep him healthy or we are right back where we started, or worse.

For those saying it was because they had a weak division, if you take a look at ours..... in two years we may be the weakest division in all of football. Except for us of course, we got a head start. No team in the South is built for 2022, besides us.

If you take Drew off the Saints, they still have a playoff team. Just a roster full of talented young players. Tampa Bay had a real defensive this year and lead in rush defensive. And have the best #1 WR and #2 WR combo in the league. Falcons have been investing heavily at OL and Juilo doesnt look to be slowing down. This divison has plenty of talent without QBs, its not the NFC west, still better than most.

Time will tell. We know how contracts become bad contracts fast. I dont see atlanta being a contender after this year.  Same with Saints.

Pete had the luxury of playing in one of the weakest divisions ever in football. Rhule on the other hand will face two HOF QBs twice a year and one HOF wide Receiver. I would be shocked if their records are the same.

    • His physical attributes aren't going to change on a new team so I have no idea how he would pan out elsewhere but I can logically assume those issues he has had with processing which was supposed to be his key selling point before the draft would follow him. He was also supposed to be someone who thrives when the play breaks down but he has been inconsistent at best on that and at times horrific. I think where we each take a fork in the road on the determination of Bryce Young currently is you seem to still be treating him as a rookie and not a third year QB still repeating the same mistakes while showing that he has no arm talent to overcome even the slightest bit of adversity. I've said all along his rookie year and his sophomore season that I would be willing to overlook his interceptions if he was pushing the ball downfield consistently and even if he turned the ball over forcing a pass here and there to keep defenses honest I would accept it. But he has nothing. There is no deep passing game here. He threw the ball 55 times in Arizona which was 30 more times than Kyler Murray and only had a little over 100 more passing yards than him. Legitimately you should read that again and ponder it. That is embarrassingly atrocious. Circumstances here are not ideal with the WR's and OL but we cannot normalize this. It is horrendous. And we need to swallow our pride and begin scouting QB's for the 2026 draft. In the meantime this cannot continue on much longer for the sake of the locker room. And the upcoming schedule isn't going to get any better. If there is a silver lining to any of this we are going to find out just who Dave Canales really is throughout the rest of the season. He isn't getting a pass either.
    • I don't hate it but.....  eeeh it would take acquiring Kaprizov without giving up svech to make rod try Jarvis at 2C. Svechnikov/Aho/Kaprizov  Ehlers/Jarvis/Stankoven
    • Given the fact he declined buku bucks over on the HOF hockey board most don't think they will even get svech..... (not even canes fans) The $$$$ tag plus lack of leverage for Minny could end up seeing him dealt for somthing around what we got for Ranttanen....
