Expect a new Panthers stadium in 2025

Is this a good location? I'm not super familiar with the area but it looks a little further from the center of uptown.

It’s just across the street from the current stadium. On the other side of 277. Combine the two properties and you have a pretty big complex.

Common theory is that it becomes the soccer stadium.

Don't know how likely that is but a lot of people have said it.

I was wondering if (whenever that is) the Panthers would lean more towards a Tottenham style stadium design for their new digs. I remember hearing the fans there on TV and the acoustics were so well done. Not sure how the sightlines compare to a NFL-first stadium, but damn it's a divine piece of architecture.

You know Tepper has to keep up with the Jones' when he does decide to build it....

I mean Im working on perfecting sloth to the point that I can start a competitive league of couch sitting.

That said...

I more meant it wasn't a distance that you'd want the guys to walk after practice.

Oh I thought you meant fans. Players ain't walking more than 10 ft. They have drivers.

They announced today they are moving to Stanley county

What year? They have been "moving" Since the 90's. It's just a trick to get cheaper city taxes. Because Charlotte makes a nice sum when they don't get abatements.

I’d bet he already had an agreement with CPF well before this announcement

Statement from today sounds pretty open ended:

"As plant relocation details are finalized, senior management is evaluating a wide variety of options related to the 55 acres that comprise the current foundry location in uptown Charlotte. “We feel fortunate that the land area constitutes one of the largest contiguous tracts of land in an urban center in the nation and we see many exciting possibilities for the property,” said Hooper Hardison, President of Charlotte Pipe."

In order to mazimize their return CP&F will conduct a beauty pageant of epic proportions and if Tepper wants to win it, he will....

....but there sure as heck ain't no pre-packaged deal.

PS....the highest and best use of that land isn't a football stadium --- I can envision a scenario where the families who own CP&F will develop that property themselves.

Again, Tepper has the coin to outbid everyone, and to make it worth the while of the CP&F families to forgo their development options --- but it will be VERY expensive....

....this is gonna get real interesting!

If they get started now, they might be able to get the railroad line that runs through the site re-located by 2030. Never underestimate the ability of the railroads to fug up a development.

Not to mention when the EPA and other agencies come in to score the site on HRS scale who knows what might come of it...
