MartyMagic,!!!11!!!1!1 also another one of my "waaaay too early" 53 man roster picks is wrong.

Like others I didnt like the pick, I know @stbugs hated it too(wanted DE Charles Owiinibvfaybrgcbarydncja) Then I heard a scout on the radio, reaaaaaly talk up this pick and it was a steal blah blah. Hearing that helped put a end my not agreeing with the pick. Now here we are one year later and hes cut.... Guess he didnt fit with what Rhule wanted and no one would even offer a 3rd string LB in return.

Charles Omenihu. 6’5” 280, solid 4-3 DE or pass rushing DT. Played fantastic at the Senior Bowl, which was stocked with solid OL so a great apples to apples. Had 3 sacks, 5 QB Hits, 2 PDs and 2 FFs as a backup in his rookie year. He would have been a solid 3-4 DE so he fit our approach last year and this year. Would have been and easy and great pick for a super cheap solid DL contributor and maybe even a starter.

Instead, another player we waived. Last year’s draft could have easily (all private visits or like Omenihu a drop kick of a pick, huge value) been:

1 Burns

2 McCoy (one of our 20ish private visits and a huge gaping need at LG or C)

3 Evans and Crosby (both private visits and needs)

4 Grier (since Marty adored him)

5 Omenihu

6 Daley

7 Who cares

Would have made it interesting as instead of needing YGM, we could have gone best WR, TE, OL or CB. There was a lot of talent at 38. I’m good with YGM, just saying instead of Little, Miller and Scarlett, we could have bolstered both lines with really good players.

A 5th round selection is not a wasted pick, Bonnafon, and Cannon are more dynamic as pass threats out of the back field, Davis is the clear #2, and CMC is at the top of the board.

Dudes up in arms over a HB that has had 0 impact, when we clearly have talent ahead of him need to relax.

Since he was never going to play, the smart thing to do would have been to add to a weakness, rather than a strength.

It would have likely been a better call to go with a starting caliber STer, or a S, or IOL or IDL and roll the dice there....rather than a RB....again.

There are plenty of RB's out there, what we needed was to build the middle of the team...and the 2nd-5th is as good a place as any to try to do that.

Yep, totally wasted...and yep he will be on the Washington Football Team soon...

Given that he barely played for Ron last year,  except on special teams, I think the odds are against that.

Good point, The Giants it is!

A guy who wasn’t even good enough to start for his mostly-mediocre (at that time) college team can’t make it in the NFL but was drafted by Marty Hurndawg in the 5th round?

Shocking.

Yeah there were quite a few pro bowlers still available around there.

I don’t like Hurney and didn’t like that pick either but in the 5th round you are sort of just throwing darts

Some darts have way more potential than others like a guy who did well at Texas, has the size for 3-4 or 4-3 DE and shined Senior Bowl week against solid OL prospects. That’s the dart we talked about in pre-draft and during the draft.  The whole it’s not the first round so it’s a crap shoot is what separates good teams from bad teams.

So glad the coaches basically took over this year. No crazy reaches like Little, Gaulden and Grier. Those three were 1 2nd and 3 3rds combined. SMH.
